After her defeat at the hands of Her brother Zuko and Katara. Azula was admitted to a psychiatric institution. Where her resentment and hate festered. He convinced her brother to look for their mother, and when she found out how Ursa had asked the Mother of faces to hang her to start a new life, remarrying and having a new daughter. She almost lost it. But instead, she ran away once confronted by her brother.

Now in exile she began looking for a way to get revenge on everyone. Tired, hungry and in brink of death, she meet by coincidence with a cabbage merchant, who took pity of her. He feed and heal her back. Having nowhere to go and taking advantage of the merchant's nomadic life style. Azula remained with the old man, helping him with his cabbages cart. With time the old merchant saw her as his own daughter. And that's when he revealed that in reality he was Jonzu Wa a shapeshifting spirit and one of Koh's children. That night Azula managed to kill Jones Wa with her electric powers, she turned him into pure energy and then she absorbed that energy, gaining this way his shapeshifting abilities. Now with her newfound abilities, Azula takes a new shape, and is ready to lay waste to everything his brother is trying to build.
