Some male readers have asked why the penis is attractive to them. They admit that the organ is attractive. They're just not clear as to why they find it to be so. Obviously, no one can speak for them, but I do have a few ideas of my own on the subject that I'd like to share.

First, however, let me piss off a lot of men. Personally, myself a connoisseur of cocks, I do not find uncut--that is, uncircumcised--penises attractive. To me, the glans (the dickhead, for you dickheads who haven't yet learned English--or Latin) must be exposed for a prick to be truly beautiful.

If a cock is cut, I find that, if it is also smooth, I love everything about it: the acorn- or gumdrop shape of the glans; the cylindrical shape of the shaft; the pouch of the testes-filled scrotum; the way that the organ itself can change size and density, going from slender and limp to thick and rigid. I like the way that it can change color, going from pink to red and (in regard to the glans) from red to purple. I love the way the penis can ejaculate, spewing the balls' load of thick, sticky, white semen all over the place. I love the mess it makes--and the way its cum tastes.

Most of all, what I love about a penis, though, is what it stands for, so to speak, what it represents, what it symbolizes.

Like everything else, a penis has both a literal (in its case, biological) and a figurative dimension. The biological features are exciting, don't get me wrong, but the figurative aspects of a cock are irresistibly sexy.

One of the descriptive phrases I use in my own erotic stories is "the scepter of his manhood." A scepter is the rod that a king holds. It signifies his rule, his royalty, his authority. It is an emblem of his power. A king's power is political, but a man's power lies in his virility, in his machismo, in his masculine potency, and it is this strength that the penis, as a sexual scepter, represents. In America, every man is a king (or so American men would like to think), and his cock, the scepter of his loins, indicates this royal status, as one who rules rather than one who is ruled.

Another phrase that pops up (or pops off) occasionally in my fiction is a reference not to the penis per se, but to the semen that it spews: "fecundating fluid." "Fecundate" (for for you dickheads who haven't yet learned English--or Latin) means to fertilize or to make pregnant. While it is true that the cock itself does not impregnate (hence the reference to semen as "fecundating fluid"), the prick is part of the delivery system, so to speak, for such fluid. Symbolically, the penis is powerful because it is virile, or damn manly. Able to change shape itself, it can also cause another person to change shape--as long as the other person is female, rather than male or shemale. Now, that's exercising power over another person!

Even when the recipient of the penis is another male, who is being fucked up his ass, the penis is a symbol of power. I have written several essays (and a poem or two) regarding the power of the penis as it is displayed in homosexual anal intercourse, or sodomy, so, except to reference these other works, I shall not repeat my observations here. For those who may be interested in my thoughts on this topic, I refer you to "Thoughts on Sodomy," "Still More Thoughts on Sodomy," "Further Thoughts on Sodomy," and "Additional Thoughts on Sodomy," written in this order, and to my poems "Sodom and Gomorrah," "Sodomy's Delight," and "Sodomy." I also refer you to "First Timer: Aftermath," which sums up nicely my thoughts concerning homosexual sadomasochism, a component of which, I find, is anal intercourse, or sodomy, and advise you that virtually all of my fiction, whether it is of a homosexual, a bisexual, a heterosexual, or a transsexual bent, involves scenes of anal intercourse. Like the characters of the Marquis de Sade's fiction, I find that (in my stories, at least) I also prefer anal to vaginal intercourse, finding an ass fuck far more scintillating to contemplate and to describe than a pussy fuck.

Whether it is used in masturbation, fucking, ass fucking, fellatio, or otherwise, a cock is a thing of beauty because it is a thing of power. It is a thing of strength. It is a thing of masculinity. It is a thing of fecundity.

However, a prick is a thing of beauty and a joy forever for another reason, too. It is rigid and unyielding; it is firm and resolute; it is determined and insistent. It does not give, it does not bend, it does not quit. It's a stand-up guy, so to speak, upon whom one can rely. It will not back down; it will not soften; it will not stand down. The penis is an embodiment of the will; it is an incarnation of the determined mind; and men, especially, are expected to be hard and steadfast and unwavering. They are expected to be dogged and unfaltering. Their penises, erect and insistent, demonstrate masculine these qualities the way that no cunt can. A penis equates manhood with the will to power.

In a world that is often too soft and sentimental, too sappy and insipid, too politically correct and namby pamby, an erect cock, full of life and need and passion and strength and fecundity, is a welcome insistence upon hardness and resolution, of the masculine will to power. Cunts are simply there, but an erect prick is in one's face; a hard, thick, elongated cock is a challenge and a dare. It provokes. That is why, more often than not, female nudity is allowed but male nudity, especially when it involves a phallus that is ithyphallic (erect, for you dickheads who haven't yet learned English--or Greek), is prohibited, by law or by the unwritten law of custom. Even if it does rear its lovely head, a dick, in art or otherwise, is apt to be challenged and chastised and censored, whereas a pair of boobs or a pussy is likely to be admired and applauded (or, at the very least, ignored). A cunt is not a threat; a penis, especially erect, is.

Finally, the penis is sexy for another reason, which some might regard as blasphemous, although blasphemy is not my intention. The rise of the penis, in erection, and its fall, in flaccidity, or detumescence, followed by its ability to rise again, as if from the dead, is emblematic of the resurrection. The penis is a phoenix, able to rise again (and again) from its own ashes--the ashes, so to speak, of its detumescence--not only to live again itself, but to engender life in others as well. This godlike ability of the penis to resurrect itself and to engender new life in others makes those who wield this divine scepter more than merely mortal and more than merely men; the penis unites those who are equipped with the organ with a cosmic, if not supernatural, power which transcends both mortality and manhood, connecting men with nature itself or God. The penis is the scepter not only of the human, but also of the divine, connecting men, in their capacity to reproduce, with the creation itself or, depending upon one's metaphysics, the Creator who produced the created universe.

Others may have their own thoughts upon the matter as to why the penis, especially in its circumcised and erect state, is a thing of beauty and a joy forever; these are mine.
