One good thing about writing is if you make a mistake, all you have to do is hit Backspace to correct it. Real life isn't like that. If you make a mistake, it can cost you a friend. Real life doesn't have Backspace.

<strong>It's your life. </strong>.....Live it the way you like and fuck who you want.

The Board of Directors of our little theatre group was having its monthly meeting. The Officers of the Board serve for two years. It was my second year as President, and we had a guest speaker.

Her name was Kim Drummond and she was the Location Casting Coordinator for a motion picture company.

"When we come to a new town to shoot location scenes, we like to use locals for extras. We have found that the best, most cooperative extras come from local theatre groups. We will need at least a dozen, maybe more for several scenes we will be shooting soon. They have to be at least 18, but their outside ages don't really matter as long as they are physically fit. We will be shooting various hours at various locations, so, of course, either retired or unemployed are best for our purposes."

She stopped and looked around the room.

"I want you and whoever we use to know that they will be extras. There might be one or two with a couple of lines to say, but that's it. We have done this for years and we absolutely guarantee that no one will be whisked off and made a huge star because of their appearance in this picture. That's why we prefer retired or unemployed folks. We have, on occasion, hired extras who have regular jobs, and based on their short periods of work with us, quit their jobs and moved to Hollywood only to be majorly disappointed, broke, and hungry.

"We pay pretty well and the experience is one they will talk about forever, I promise. Also, depending on the scene, they may find themselves working with one of the stars of the film, but the star will generally be too busy to socialize. What happens is the scene gets set up by the crew, and we rehearse it with the extras. When the director thinks it's time, the star or major actor in the scene will come out, rehearse the scene a couple of times, the scene will be shot and the actor goes back to his or her trailer to get ready for their next scene.

"Also, we need a central place where the cast and crew can go to relax and have their meals. We would like that place to be here." She indicated our theatre. "We will provide new furniture for your lobby and, of course, it will remain after we leave. We will also contract with a catering Company to provide meals 24/7 for anyone associated with the theatre or the movie. Additionally, we are very generous with payments for renting your theatre.

"Again, let me remind you that the studio actors will not have time for dinner, dancing, going out for a drink, or any of those things. Acting is a tough job and they work very hard at their craft.

"So, if you have anybody interested in helping us, have them fill out these forms and provide an 8" x 10" Headshot. Get them to me at the Hilton on Croft Drive and I will select some to forward to the director for his approval. The crew will start moving into town in three to four weeks. Thank you and I will be available for questions after your meeting."

Needless to say, that little meeting caused an uproar in our little town. In three days, we had bios and headshots from over half of our membership, including a friend of mine, Brad, and my wife. Theirs were some of the first forms to be completed and given to Kim Drummond.

When the news that a production company was coming to town hit the local news and that our theatre was going to be sort of the clearing house for people wanting to be in the movie, we became the most popular spot in town. Literally hundreds of people dropped off bios and headshots and took the forms Ms. Drummond had left and filled them out.

There was huge excitement when the movie crew started moving in. Our parking lot was filled with trucks full of their equipment. We had police security around the clock and those of us who were board members had passes so we could come and go as we pleased. In that I was the Board President, I was given an "All Access" pass. That included the filming locations when filming was actually being done. I felt pretty important.

Two weeks before filming was to begin, those who were selected to be extras were called to a meeting at our theatre. My wife, Lorna, who is what I call a beauty, and an old friend Brad, were two of the lucky ones.

Lorna is a stay at home wife. Not that she's ever home. She worked with every volunteer organization in town. We had been married four years. I work with my father. We own Perryman and son, a facility that makes plastic tanks of all sizes. I'm the 'son'. My name is Howard (Howie) Perryman. We build everything from small tanks used in the home to massive industrial tanks used to hold every industrial liquid or gas known to man. We sell and ship them worldwide. It's a good business; a very good business and I planned to retire early so Lorna and I can do nothing but travel; assuming no kids come along.

I sat in on the meeting with Kim Drummond and the movie's director when they gave their orientation class to the extras. Lorna and Brad were on cloud nine as we left that evening. Brad came home with us for a congratulatory drink. That drink turned into several drinks and Brad ended up sleeping on our sofa.

In the first couple of days of shooting, Lorna found herself in two scenes with John Kincade, the actor playing the sidekick of the leading man. He was a handsome, funny, intelligent guy who had been in four other films. Lorna was so excited because in a restaurant scene she and "John" as she now called him, held hands, kissed, and she even had two lines to speak. I knew beforehand that she would be kissing him and it didn't bother me. She told me about it afterward and was excited that she had kissed an actual movie star.

About three weeks into the shooting schedule, Lorna told me they would be shooting late on Wednesday, but she wasn't sure where. I had never really had the time to go on the set and watch, but since it was a late shoot, I thought I'd poke around.

It was raining when I walked onto what used to be our theatre parking lot, but was now the movie company's "compound". There was no action so I headed for our theatre. There was lots of noise coming from it so I opened the door and went in. The first thing I saw was a huge buffet line. The place was packed with people, eating, talking, drinking and just generally relaxing and enjoying their 'down' time. Nobody paid any attention as I walked around. Towards the back of the room, which was our theatre lobby, sat Lorna at a table with three men. One of them was my friend Brad. Another was John Kincade, whom I recognized from the autographed picture of him Lorna had recently put on her dresser. The third man was Brad's boyfriend, Mark.

Lorna and Kincade were sitting together. He had his arm around her. Actually it was more like draped and his hand was as close to her nipple as it could be without actually touching it. I was torn between going to them and watching. I chose to watch.

It wasn't long before she moved her body to straighten herself and then she inhaled. When she did that, his hand covered her breast and she reached up and put her hand on his pressing it into her breast. Then they kissed. The kiss lasted long enough for me to take out my camera and take pictures of the kiss and his hand on her breast. Then I left. We were told that no pictures or audio recordings of any kind were permitted by anyone other than the production team. I pretended to speak on my phone but would occasionally turn it toward them and snap the photo. Nobody said anything.

I was still awake when she got home several hours later.

"How was it?" I asked.

"I had fun."

"How much shooting did you get done?"

"We didn't. It was raining so we just sat around, ate, had a couple of drinks, then just talked; mostly about movies."

"Who all was there?"

"Mostly just the techies and extras. The real actors don't mingle with the peons." Lie number one.

"Was Brad there?"

"Didn't see him." Lie number two.

I watched her face the entire time we talked and not once was there any "tell" showing me she was lying. As far as I knew, she had never lied to me before, but after seeing how convincingly she told those two lies, I wasn't sure any more.

"When do you go back?"

"Tomorrow. John and I have another scene in a couple of days and he wants us to go over it."

"Did they give you more lines to speak?"

"They did. Four more."

"What is the scene about?"

"It's about a couple meeting in the park."

"How did you get to do so many scenes with one of the main actors? I thought you were an extra."

"The actress who was supposed to do it got sick two days after she got here and went back to L.A. They tried out two other girls, then gave me the part. They told me there is a lot more money for me."

"Good for you."

I went back the next day. She was nowhere to be found until I started to leave and I saw her come out of a trailer with the name John Kincade above the door. She stepped down, turned to him, blew him a kiss, and started to leave. He opened the door a little wider and I saw he was wearing a pair of light blue briefs. He said. "Hey. Come back for a minute."

"They're shooting a scene I'm in."

"It will only take a minute." He said.

She smiled and walked back and stepped up into the trailer and they kissed. Long and slow. I took more pictures being careful not to be seen. Then she scampered off to shoot her scene. At least that's where she said she was going.

At home that night, I, again, asked her about her day.

"It was slow today. John and I went over our scene a couple of times and I was an extra in three scenes they shot."

"Where do you rehearse two person scenes? In the actor's trailer?"

"Oh, God, no. Extras are never allowed near those trailers. We rehearsed in the theatre." Lie number three.

I went to bed that night realizing that neither Lorna nor I had done or said anything sexually related recently. I rolled over, put my arm around her and covered her breast with my hand. It was the same breast Kincade had touched. She reached up and moved my hand to her hip. "I'm tired." She said.

The day she and Kincade were to shoot their scene, I asked her where it was going to be. She had told me the park, but I didn't know whether to believe her or not; but I went over there just the same.

She was right. They were shooting the scene. Most people were blocked from getting near the shooting location, but my badge allowed me to go anywhere shooting or any other studio activity was taking place.

I watched from behind a camera as Lorna and Kincade walked down the path. There was no dialogue. They did it about three more times before the director was happy. Then they walked to a picnic table. They did that a total of three times. I was getting bored. But then it changed. He pushed her down on the table, they kissed passionately and he opened her blouse and then her bra. It was the kind of bra that opened in front. He moved the bra and fondled and kissed her breasts.

"Cut" Said the director. "That looked real ... like you two have done that before." Everybody including Lorna and Kincade laughed. "Let's do it again." Said the director. I took pictures. Everybody was watching them so I didn't worry about being caught.

People came out of nowhere, fixed her clothing, fixed her hair and makeup and they did it again. This time he lingered over first one breast than the other before the director yelled "cut". I went home.

It was late, again, when she got home.

"How did your scene go?"

"Not too bad."

"Did you have to kiss him again?"

She laughed. "No. We just walked through the park. There wasn't even any dialogue." Lie number four.

"I don't know anything about making movies, but I do know that just a scene of someone walking in a park, doesn't sound too interesting to me."

"You're right. You don't know anything about making movies. If you take the scene out of context, then it might be boring, but when you see the whole movie it makes sense."

"Okay. Tell me about the whole movie."

"Some other time. I'm tired tonight."

The movie company had been here for five weeks and only had two more days of shooting and they wanted to have a 'wrap' party. Partly for themselves and partly for us, their hosts.

Lorna never tried to dissuade me from going to the party, which was a surprise to me; so I went. We had been there about an hour when my friend Brad introduced me to one of the actresses. The three of us struck up a conversation. I told them I had to use the bathroom and excused myself. I hadn't seen either Lorna or Kincade so I headed for his trailer.

There were two doors. One was locked. The other had its' lock tripped, but it hadn't caught; like someone had been in a hurry and didn't close it all the way. I opened it and walked in. Down the hall was the bedroom. There were lots of mirrors in the trailer; either to make the trailer look bigger or to satisfy the ego of the occupant, I wasn't sure which.

There were the obvious noises of someone having sex in the bedroom. I couldn't look into it without being caught, but one of the mirrors was the perfect angle for me to see in. It was also the perfect angle for them to see out (and me) if they looked in that direction. My wife and John Kincade were too busy to look up. He was pistoning in and out of her so hard and fast she was having trouble catching her breath.

"Hurry. We have to get back." She said.

I took a chance and snapped two pictures before going back to the party.

"Man that was a long pee." Said Brad.

"I've been holding back a lot. By the way. Have you seen Lorna?"

"She was talking to one of the makeup girls when I last saw her."

"Well, could you bring her home? I'm not feeling so well." He smiled a huge smile. "Be happy to." At that point Mark, Brad's boyfriend came up and put his arm around Brad. "Mark and I will make sure she gets home okay."

When I got home, I printed the pictures I had taken of them having sex. I was awake when she got home, but she made so much noise crashing and bumping into things that I couldn't have slept if I was a dead man.

She managed to literally fall into bed and was asleep immediately. I got up and for the first time since we'd known each other, I went through her purse. The first thing that fell out was a small glass case. Lorna didn't wear glasses so I opened it.

Inside were three small packages of white powder, a bent spoon, a cigarette lighter, and two syringes. I threw them all in the trash.

The next morning I made myself a cup of coffee and went to my office. I was there before my father or any of the staff got there.

It was after noon when her first call came. Then text messages every few minutes for the next two hours. I ignored them.

Then I decided to call Brad. "Hi, Howie. What's up?" he answered.

"Are you up for a drink?"

"Sure. Where and what time?"

We arrived about the same time and had ordered our drinks.

"When did it start?" I asked him.

"When did what start?"

"You know what." I showed him the pictures of him sitting there while Kincade fondled Lorna's breast. "I saw you watch him do it. Neither she, you, nor Mark did anything to stop it. Why not?"

He hesitated before speaking. "She didn't want me too. She wanted to have sex with a Hollywood star ... so she did."

"Christ he was only here for five weeks. How could he get to her in five weeks?"

"He got to her in three."

"What?"

"They slept together for the first time two weeks ago and he didn't even need the coke"

"Coke?"

"Cocaine. She told me he offered her some if she would fuck him. She told him he didn't need coke, she would do it for fun. But the next day he was high on it and having fun so she thought she would try it."

"And you, my friend, never saw fit to tell me about it?"

"She said she would tell my parents I was Gay if I told you.

Brad was 34 years old and still tried to hide from his parents the fact that he was gay. He was afraid they would disown him and he would lose his inheritance. So he hid his boyfriend and paid girls to go out with him. His parents thought he was a real "player" and his mother was always after him to settle down.

"Did she use it again?"

"Everyday. She's probably on it right now. She's hooked on the stuff."

"How about you? Are you on it?"

"God, no. my parents would kill me."

"How many times did they do it?" I asked.

"I don't know. Every time there was a break from shooting, they headed for his trailer. They'd do some coke, then have sex. I can't believe you never saw the change in her." There was a pause while I just sat there. "He even let Mark and I use his trailer while they were screwing one time. Mark thought it would be cool to do it in a Hollywood star's trailer."

"Wait a minute. You and Mark watched my wife have sex with him?"

"And then they watched Mark and me. He kept fondling her while they watched until we were all four doing our own things on his bed. He told us nothing like that had ever happened to him before. They were so high you'd think they were flying. You won't tell my parents will you?"

"No Brad, I won't tell your parents."

"They had the camera operator film them once. She wanted a record of it. The only stipulation was that Kincade's face couldn't be shown."

"Where is that tape?"

"Don't know."

"Do not tell her we had this conversation otherwise I will tell your parents, your church, and your boss that you are gay. Got that?"

"Yessir." He literally squeaked out. Our friendship was effectively over. I was both amazed and shocked to realize my friend was so cavalier about my wife cheating. I was also trying to wrap my mind around the fact that not only did my wife have sex multiple times with a man she hardly knew, but she was fine with having an audience watch them. Then she watched her audience. Not only that, but she wanted a video of her "doing" a Hollywood star.

I went back to my office and sat most of the afternoon. I had a meeting that I had to attend with my father but after that it was back to my office and thinking.

As I drove home that evening, I drove by the theatre and the parking lot was empty. The movie company had moved out.

Dinner that night was a somewhat somber affair. Lorna was acting like she had lost her best friend. I wasn't acting. I actually had lost mine. Her name was Lorna, and I was also losing her as my wife. The only thing now was to break it to her.

The next day, she was at one of her many volunteer meetings and I went home early. It didn't take me long to find the video. It was in one of her old purses on a shelf in her closet. Five packages of white powder were there as well. I flushed the powder down the toilet on my way to my home office where I played the video.

It was everything I would have expected a porno tape to be. Kincade took her in every position known to man and she kept asking for more; begging for more. I watched it all the way through and made two copies. I put enough clothes for about a week, and most of my work files, into my car.

I was sitting in the living room when she came in. Her mood was a bit better than last night, but she was still a bit "off" as it were. She kissed me on my cheek and sat.

"How was your day?" She asked.

"Disappointing." I responded.

"Oh? Why?"

"It was kind of exciting to have the movie crew here. Now they're gone."

"Yes. Now they're gone." She sighed

"Are you going to miss the excitement?" I asked

"Probably."

"What are you going to miss the most?"

"I'm not sure."

"When will the movie be out?"

<hr pg="2" />"Next year sometime I think."

"Won't you be a bit embarrassed?"

"Embarrassed? Why?"

"Letting your parents see you topless and molested on a picnic table."

She paused. "Oh, that. How did you know about that?"

"I watched it being filmed."

"Really? What did you think?"

"What did I think? My wife was being mauled by a total stranger and her breasts were exposed for the whole world to see. I don't think very highly of the idea."

"Oh, Howie, it was just a movie." She stood and went to the kitchen.

I followed her. "Don't you think you should have discussed it with me before doing something like that?"

"I didn't think it was such a big deal."

I was astounded by the nonchalance with which she acted. "Some man is sucking on your tits in front of a camera crew and it's no big deal?"

"That's what I said."

I shook my head.

"How about you spending time in Kincade's trailer when you told me no extras were allowed to be there?"

"What about it?"

"You lied to me."

"Come on, Howie. Grow up. Several of us spent time there. He liked to entertain and show off."

"By showing off do you mean walking around in his underwear while kissing you?"

"What are you talking about?"

I showed her the picture.

"Oh. That was nothing. I had to get part of my costume I left there earlier."

"What part. Your panties?"

"Don't get vulgar."

She had poured herself a glass of iced tea and walked back to the living room where she sat in her favorite chair in absolute control of her emotions.

I sat across from her. "How many times did you have sex with him?"

Her demeanor changed. Not much, but it changed.

"Why would you ask that?"

"How many?"

She thought about it before answering. "Once. It was nothing. I thought it would be cool to sleep with a movie star. Now every time I see him on the screen, I can think to myself that I slept with him."

I shook my head. She was talking about cheating as casually as I would talk about having the oil in my car changed. I wondered what it would take for her to realize that our marriage was over.

"Was that the time you had the audience?"

"Now what are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about the time you let Brad and Mark watch you and Kincade have sex."

She actually laughed. "That was so cool. I had never seen two guys making out. I thought it was hot."

"So you and Kincade sat there naked watching them after they watched you."

"Actually they did it on the bed with us. Then we all four did it at the same time."

"Have you any idea what I'm feeling right now? How devastated I am?"

"It was no big deal. I didn't do anything with them and they didn't touch me." She giggled. "John and I tried to get Brad to do me, but he wasn't interested."

This was getting worse. Was she insane? Calmly talking to her husband about having sex with a second rate movie star and trying to get a gay guy to do her! My head was going around in circles.

"How can you sit there and tell me these things? Didn't our marriage mean anything to you?"

"I've tried to explain that it was nothing. Why are you so upset?"

"Are you serious? You cheated on me and apparently enjoyed having an audience while you had sex with your lover."

"I told you before to grow up. It was only fun and meant nothing. Everybody in Hollywood has sex with everybody else. Don't make such a big deal out of it."

"This isn't Hollywood and it is a big deal. As a matter of fact it's so big I'm divorcing you over it."

She jumped up. "You're what? Divorcing me over something like this? You're crazy."

"Someone's crazy, but I assure you it isn't me."

I couldn't take any more and had to get out of there. I got in my car and went to get something to eat. My phone started ringing before I was out of the garage.

"Yes, Lorna?"

"Are you serious? You're divorcing me over something as small as this?"

I was beginning to think she was certifiable.

"I am indeed."

"It was one time, Howie. Only one."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure."

"There are three that I know about and there were all those times you went to his trailer. You started having sex with him the third week he was there; so you had him at least once a day for two weeks. That's at least 14 times. And you don't think that's a big deal?"

"Okay. Maybe I went a bit overboard, but you can't divorce me for that. Besides, you have no proof. It's my word against yours."

"Well, it's my word and the video against you and I bet I win."

"Video?"

"Yeah. Video. You know. The one hidden with your drugs in the purse in your closet. I flushed your drugs down the toilet by the way. It's the same video that was filmed by the movie's cinematographer. I understand you let him fuck you as payment for his work." I was just making that up. I had no idea if she did or not.

"You did what? Flushed my stuff? Christ, don't you know how much that shit costs? And as far as the video goes, I just wanted it as a remembrance. I'll be able to look back on it and smile."

"And what about me? Do you think I will be able to look at it and smile?"

"For Christ's sake. I'm telling you it was no big deal. So I had sex with a movie star and a cameraman; and I let some people watch. It's not the end of the world, so come home."

"You're right. It is not the end of the world, but it is the end of our marriage." I hung up and went to my office. I slept on the sofa there that first night. The next day I brought my parents up to speed and moved into their guest house.

Lorna tried to call, but I never answered. A week later she was served divorce papers at home. She was given a week to move her stuff out of the house and was also told to never drive her car as she no longer had permission of the owner to drive it. The next call I received was from her father. Well, actually, it was from his phone, but the caller was Lorna.

"This has gone far enough. There will be no divorce over something so small and what do you mean I have to move out of my house and give up my car?"

"The house and both cars we drive belong to Perryman and Son, the company. They have decided that you are no longer allowed to live in their house or drive their car. So get your stuff out of their house and don't drive their car anymore." Man, was she pissed.

"We'll see about that." She said and hung up.

The next call I received was from her attorney.

"You're being unreasonable," he said. "She has to have transportation and a place to live. She is within her rights to continue to drive the car and continue to live in the marital home.

Not being an attorney myself, I had no idea if what he was telling me was true. I decided to pull a bluff before talking to my attorney. "Come on, counsellor, you know better than that. Either she complies or her next transportation will be a patrol car and her next home will be as a guest of the city." I ended that call then called my attorney and told him what I did.

"He had no business calling you direct. I will have a chat with him about protocol. By the way, you were correct in telling him what you did. She has no choice but to comply. He should know that. I think he was just trying to bluff you, but you wouldn't fall for it. Good for you."

Two days later, she was caught running a stop sign and was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Now she was majorly pissed. Her parents bailed her out, but they came to the realization that I wasn't kidding. She was out of the house two days later and I moved back in.

We had lived in that house for just over a year, but never took the time to get to know our neighbors. We knew them by sight and waved to them, and they waved back, but that was the extent of it. We lived in our previous house, also owned by Perryman and Son, for years and knew all of our neighbors there.

When I went into the house, it was a wreck. There were holes in the walls, and paint on the walls, floors, and kitchen. The mattress on our bed was ripped to shreds. I called the police and she was arrested again. All in all over $5,000 in damages. She denied causing the damage and blamed it on some kids who were hanging around as she moved out, but nobody believed her.

I spent a great deal of time trying to understand how my wife, my best friend, could so easy and flippantly talk about cheating with two men, enjoy having an audience while she cheated, enjoy watching two gay guys have sex, and then try to convince one of them to fuck her. It was all beyond my comprehension.

Weeks later I returned from a business trip and pulled into my drive just in time to see three young men coming out of my house. Two of them were carrying the big TV from my living room, but dropped it when they saw me. I recognized both of them as kids from the neighborhood.

I took my suitcase inside and looked around. Somebody had been having a party there. I walked down the street to the house of the one I recognized. I rang the doorbell and a woman, I assumed it was his mother, answered. I didn't know her or her name, but like most of the neighbors, we waved whenever we saw each other. I told her what I had seen, and she started crying.

"He's been out of control since his father left us. I can't do anything with him. He and his friends have been causing trouble around the neighborhood."

"Have you called the police?" I asked.

"No. Frankly, I've been afraid to."

"Well, I'm going to. This is the second time I know of that they've been in my house."

"Go ahead. Maybe it will help," she said.

I thought for a minute. "Maybe I'll do something else. Is he here?" I asked.

"Yes. He and two of his friends are in his room."

"What's his name?"

"Frank. We call him Frankie."

"Where is his room?" She led me there. His door was closed. I knocked on it.

"Go away," came a response from the room. I knocked again, only louder. "I said go away." I heard again.

I stepped back, lifted my foot and kicked. The door came completely off its' hinges and scared the shit out of the three boys and Frankie's mother.

"What the fuck?" asked one of them.

"Get off your asses and come with me," I said. They just sat there. I walked over to the one I knew lived there and looked down at him and stared. "If you don't get up and come with me, you will be in jail in an hour. Do you understand me?"

A meek, "Yes, sir." came from him as he stood.

I looked at the other two. "I told you to get up." They looked at each other and, like the first one, meekly stood. "Now come with me." I walked out and started to my house. I never once looked back, but when I got to the TV in my yard, I turned and they were there. "The two of you who dropped it, take it back inside." Frankie and one of the others picked it up and took it back inside. I looked and down the street was Frankie's mother. She was watching what was going on. I motioned for her and she hurriedly made her way to where I was. "Let's go inside."

She followed.

Inside, she looked around at the damage and started crying. "I'm so sorry. I'll pay for the damage. Oh, God, I'm so sorry."

"No you won't. Frankie?"

"Yes."

"Frankie and his friends will pay for it, won't you fellas?" They just looked at each other. I lowered my voice. "I said won't you fellas?" They all three nodded. "Okay. Get busy and clean up this mess." They hesitated. "NOW!" I said and they started in a hurry. It was almost nine in the evening before one of the boys, whose name I found out was, Darryl, said that he had to get home. The other boy was his younger brother, Eric. "Okay, guys, let's go." Frankie's mother had stayed and watched. "But before we go, I want you to all to know something, especially you, Frankie, if I hear of you mistreating your mother, I will personally kick your ass. Do you understand me?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good. Now be back here at eight in the morning."

"Yes, sir."

"Okay, Darryl, you and Eric, get in my car and I'll take you home."

"Do you have to?" Asked Darryl. "Our parents will kill us."

"Don't you think they have a right to know what their sons are up to?"

"Yes, sir, I guess, but they're going to be pissed ... excuse me Mrs. Phillips."

Frankie's mother nodded. That's the first time I heard her last name.

"Come on, guys, let's go."

"Thank you, Mr. Perryman," said Mrs. Phillips "Frankie will be back in the morning."

"It's Howard, but my friends call me Howie."

"I'm Judy, and thank you, again." She and Frankie left as the other two and I got in my car.

Darryl used his key to unlock his front door. "Mom, Dad, someone is here to see you."

The father was watching TV and the mother came into the room drying her hands. I introduced myself. "It's not that I have anything to say, but I think the boys do." I looked at them. "Who wants to start?"

They looked at each other. Darryl spoke first. "I guess I will."

He went on to tell his parents that the three boys had been breaking into houses and trashing them. They had never stolen anything until today, when they tried to steal my TV. The parents were, at first, horrified, then embarrassed, then apologetic.

I explained what I had them doing that day and that I recommended they come back the next day to work some more. Their father agreed it was a good plan and he would make sure they were at my house at eight.

It turned out their father was an architect so knew how to patch sheet rock and how to paint; and he brought some hand tools. Darryl, Eric and their father was there at eight, but Frankie wasn't.

I walked down to his house where his mother told me he wouldn't get up. I went to his room kicked his bed and told him, to get his ass up and out the door. He got up and tried to change from his pajamas to clothes and I wouldn't let him. I wouldn't let him put on shoes, either. I marched him to my house where he worked all day barefooted and in pajamas. He was not a happy camper.

During the course of the day, all three boys learned how to patch bad places in sheetrock, and how to "mud" and smooth the seams. It took two weekends to patch all the holes and fix the damage to the walls and another weekend to learn how to replace damaged chandeliers and rehang doors. Frankie was always early from then on and I took the time to work with him one on one and he seemed to take to learning pretty well. When we painted, he wanted to do the trim and the windows. He took to detail work like a duck to water.

When the damage was all repaired, the three family's had a cookout at my house. The weather in Southeast Texas in the fall and winter is pretty good. It was during the cookout that I realized I had to make a couple of phone calls. I took out my phone and punched in her number.

"Hello, Howie. How are you?"

"I'm fine Lorna. The reason I called is I owe you an apology. I've recently learned that you did not destroy the house when you moved out. It was, in fact, three boys just as you said it was. I will call the police and drop the charges."

"Thank you, Howie. I'd appreciate that and I appreciate your call."

"It's the least I could do." I ended the call and immediately went in and asked Judy to have dinner with me. It ended up being Judy, Frankie, and me, and I never had so much fun on a first date. Getting Frankie away from those two brothers seemed to change him completely and he started hanging out at my house.

Thanksgiving came and I spent it with my parents and my sister's family.

Frankie spent a weekend with his father. Judy and I spent about five minutes of that same weekend in bed.

I thought she was hot before seeing her naked, but when I did see her naked, chills went up and down my spine and my dick kept telling me to "hurry and fuck her, hurry and fuck her". And I did; or, rather, I tried. I hurried and she laughed almost the whole time. I fumbled like a hormone crazed teenager and tried to get hard, but nothing worked. I did get about half-hard and tried to stick it in, but it wouldn't go and that made her laugh harder. I was so fucking embarrassed that my dick went as limp as a dishrag. I was on top of her looking down and she was still laughing. I rolled off her and got dressed.

"What are you doing? Howie, what are you doing?"

I didn't say anything. "Howie? Howie, it's okay. I think it's funny. Come back here." All that was said as I was leaving. I never looked back.

My phone rang almost constantly on my walk home so I turned it off.

Had I been able to laugh with her, things might have been different, but my ego was so fragile from my experience with my ex-wife, that I couldn't control myself.

I had just locked up the house and was on my way to my bedroom when I heard my doorbell ring. I ignored it, turned off the light and went to bed. Between Lorna and Judy my ego was wrecked.

I putzed around my house and yard the next day; which was a Sunday and I had a meeting at the theatre that night. In addition to our regular meeting we were going to have eggnog and snacks and elect new officers. My term as president would be over.

The board secretary had received a nice letter from the production company thanking us for our hospitality and ensured us that the board members and their spouses or significant others would be receiving invitations to the premiere of the movie. I mentally told myself that I would send my regrets when my invitation arrived. The treasurer gave his report and the studio had, in fact, been very generous to us. In addition to the very nice check they sent, the furniture they left was much more than we could ever afford on our own. The meeting lasted another hour or so with routine theatre business and election of the new officers. The new president took office immediately.

I had to drive by Judy's house on my way home and I saw Frankie in their front yard. I stopped. "Why are you out so late?" I asked.

"My Dad just dropped me off and Mom isn't here. I thought she was with you."

"Why with me?"

"I just thought you guys would be on a date."

"Don't you have a key or a phone?" I asked him.

Before he could answer her car pulled into their driveway. I drove off.

It was mid-December and it looked like I was going to spend Christmas with my parents. Not that that's a bad thing. I loved spending time with them and did often. Actually, I saw my father five days a week at the office.

One evening I was going through my mail at home and there was an invitation. I opened it and Judy Phillips had invited me to dinner on December 22nd at 6:30 PM. The invitation contained the obligatory Accept/Regret card. I circled Regret, and dropped it in her mail box the next time I went by.

Frankie liked to draw and was very good at it; so for Christmas I bought him some nice art supplies; including an easel. I figured he would be at my house sooner or later unless his mother told him not to visit me anymore. He could get his presents then.

It was the 22nd and I was putting presents for my parents in my car when Frankie walked up. "What's up, Mr. Perryman?" he asked.

I explained what I was doing, then remembered my gifts for him. He followed me into the house. "Those are for you," I told him.

"Wow. Thank you," he said.

He picked them up and I remembered that I had also gotten one for Judy, but decided not to give it to her. "Just a minute. There's one in there I need to get back. So I went through them, found it, and tossed it aside. He looked at it as he gathered his gifts. He saw that the tag had his mother's name on it.

"Want me to take it to her?" he asked.

"No. It was a mistake. Take your presents home now. I have to go to my parents. I was going to bring those to you on my way when I remembered your mother was having a dinner party. I didn't want to disturb her or her guests so I decided to wait. But since you're here, you can take them."

<hr pg="3" />"What dinner party? She's not having a dinner party. She just wanted to have dinner with you. My dad was going to pick me up so the two of you could have a nice quiet dinner, but when you couldn't come, it was just going to be Mom and me." He looked at me. "Why don't you come back with me? There's a lot of stuff to eat."

"Thanks, Frankie, but I have to go."

"Okay, but my Mom's a good cook."

I laughed. "I'm sure she is. Merry Christmas, Frankie."

"Merry Christmas, Mr. Perryman, and thank you for the gifts." He struggled carrying everything especially the easel.

"You're welcome."

I was working in my garage three days after Christmas, when I heard a voice behind me. "Excuse me. Mr. Perryman."

I turned and Frankie was there. "Hi, Frankie. What can I do for you?"

"My Mom is going out tonight. I'm supposed to spend the night with my father, but if you're not busy, would you mind if I came over here?"

"Not at all. What time?"

"She's leaving at 6:30."

"Okay. I'll tell you what. What don't I pick you up around quarter after six and we'll go get a burger or something." I figured she would still be getting ready for her date and not have time to talk even if she wanted to. "Make sure it's okay with your mother first."

"Oh, it is," he smiled, "I already asked her." Then he took off running towards home.

I pulled into their drive at 6:15 and he came running out and jumped in the car. "Mom said to tell you thank you and that she would pick me up at your place when she gets home."

"Did she say what time?"

"Yeah. About midnight."

Frankie and I had a nice time. He chose pizza and I didn't object. Afterward we went to my house and watched Mel Brooks' movies until midnight.

One in the morning came and no Judy. Two. No Judy. I awoke at seven sitting in my recliner. I looked and Frankie was asleep on the sofa with the TV still on. I made some coffee and fixed breakfast. Frankie finally woke at nine. "What happened to my mother?" he asked.

"I have no idea," I said. "Maybe she was just having a good time and stayed out all night."

He looked at me. "Not my Mom." He started eating cold scrambled eggs and sausage.

"Well, get finished and we'll take you home. She probably got home and fell asleep," I said.

A few minutes later we were walking down the street. He used his key and we went in.

"Mom." He yelled as he went in. "Mom? Where are you?" There was no answer and I followed him through the house looking for her. He walked down the hall toward her bedroom; a room I remembered well. He knocked and received no answer so he knocked again before opening the door. The room was quiet and the bed hadn't been slept in.

Now he was getting worried, and me? I didn't know exactly what my feelings were. My immediate thought was that she had spent the night with her date, and if she did, I bet she didn't laugh at him.

Frankie took his phone and tried to call her, but no answer so he left a message. "Mom, where are you?"

We looked and her car was still in the garage. I looked at Frankie. "Frankie, I have to go home. Will you be okay here by yourself?"

"Oh, sure, Mr. Perryman."

"If your mother isn't home by five this afternoon, come to my house and we'll figure out what to do."

"Okay. Mr. Perryman."

I walked out the front door just as a car pulled in the drive. Judy was in the passenger seat. I kept walking. "Howie. Howie. Thank you for looking after Frankie." I never turned to acknowledge her, I just waved my arm and kept walking.

I went to see my father. "Dad, are you still planning that trip to Greece?" There was a company that wanted to do business with us. Their owner had made two trips to see us and my father wanted to go look at them.

"I sure am. Why?"

"When?"

"Next month."

"May I go in your place?"

"I don't think so. Your mother and I were going to make it a second honeymoon."

Well, that blew that idea. Fuck.

That evening when I got home, Frankie was walking toward my house. He saw me and started running. He almost beat me. I pulled in the garage just as he got there. "What's up, big guy?" I asked.

"Not much. Want me to mow your lawn?"

In our part of the country you can cut grass all year long; just not as often in the fall and winter. "Sure. Help yourself. How's your mother?"

"She's fine," he said as he checked the oil in the mower.

"Did she enjoy her date?"

He laughed. "It wasn't a date. Her parents were celebrating their anniversary so they had a special dinner."

"Really?"

"Yep," he said.

"Why didn't you go?"

"They wanted it to be just them and their children for old times' sake, whatever that means. The children weren't even allowed to bring their husbands or wives."

"How many siblings does your mother have?"

"How many what?"

"Brothers and sisters."

"I have two aunts and two uncles on my mother's side."

"Who was the guy that brought her home?"

"My Uncle Jimmy. After dinner they all started playing games like they did when they were young and ended up playing all night. She said she hasn't had so much fun since ..."

"Since when?"

"Since the first time you took us out to dinner."

I remembered that night. I never enjoyed a date or laughed as much as I did then.

"Cut the grass, Frankie." I said as I walked into the house.

My bell rang just a few minutes after that. I figured he was having trouble starting the mower, so I answered it.

"What's wrong, Frank...."

"What's wrong is I'm sorry, and you won't speak to me," said Judy as she walked in.

"There's not a lot to say." I started to move away, but she grabbed both of my arms and held me. I could easily have broken free, but chose not to.

"Yes, there is." The door was still open and Frankie was standing there watching us. "I'm sorry. Truly and deeply sorry. I was reminded of the first time I was with a boy. We were both 18 and ..."

"Mom!"

She turned and looked at her embarrassed son. "Don't you have anything to do?" she asked him and closed the door in his face. She went back to her story. "It was our first time and we both fumbled with inexperience and raging hormones. We had no real idea what we were doing or how to do it, but that didn't stop us. We just charged right on literally ripping our clothes off. I would love to have a video of it. He never even got inside me and he squirted all over the place.

"That time with you reminded me of that first time and I couldn't help myself. It wasn't about you or me; it was the situation. That's it, pure and simple and deep in my heart I want us to do it again." She looked deep into my soul. "Please?"

I had never had a woman basically beg me to fuck her. I didn't resist as she moved to touch her body to mine. She tilted her head up, put both of her hands on my face, pulled me to her and kissed me. It lasted a long, soft, gentle time. Then we did it again.

The doorbell rang. Judy and I kissed again, and the doorbell rang again. She started laughing with our lips still locked together; and so did I.

She turned and opened the door. "Yes, Frankie," she said.

"Mr. Perryman, I can't start the mower."

"That's okay, Frankie. Do it some other time."

"Okay. Can we watch some more Mel Brooks movies?"

"Go home, Frankie. Your room needs cleaning," I told him.

"No it doesn't. I just cleane ..." Judy closed the door in his face again.

I walked her home a couple of hours later after we got naked and fucked our brains out. I wanted her to stay, but we both realized Frankie was home alone so we got dressed and walked to her house hand in hand.

I stayed for dinner that evening. I would have been there for breakfast, but Frankie was something of a problem. After that, Judy and I took every opportunity to get naked and play.

We dated for several weeks before she called her ex-husband and asked if he would like to have Frankie for a long weekend. He agreed so Judy and I planned to spend three days in bed. We planned our little tryst starting on Thursday evening and fucking until Sunday evening when Frankie would be back. We had not discussed being exclusive in our relationship, but I had the impression we were.

The week before our big weekend I called Judy and asked if she and Frankie would like to go out to dinner.

"Uh, no, we can't tonight."

"Okay. How about tomorrow?"

"We have plans for then as well, Howie, sorry."

I chuckled to myself thinking how stupid I was. I liked spending time with both her and Frankie, but my life didn't revolve around them and she just reminded me that their lives didn't revolve around me either.

I decided to have dinner out on my own. As I drove past Judy's, there was a green car in her driveway. Two hours later as I came home, the green car was still there. It stayed there all evening, and all day the next day, which was Saturday, and Saturday night.

Frankie came to my house on Sunday afternoon and the green car was still in their driveway. He asked if he could hang out for a few hours and work on his homework. He had taken to doing that fairly regularly and I enjoyed helping him. It reminded me of the times my father sat and helped me.

"I'm sorry, but not today, Frankie."

"Okay," he said as he walked away dejectedly.

"Wait a minute. Why not? Come on, Frankie. We'll do the homework and then watch Mel Brooks." Regardless of whatever was happening between his mother and me, Frankie had no control over it; besides, I liked the kid.

He started to come in, but changed his mind. "I forgot something, Mr. Perryman. I'll be right back." He handed me his books and took off running toward his house and was back in ten minutes. I opened the door to his ring. "Here. This is for you," he said.

I took it from him.

For my 15th birthday, my grandfather had given me a copy of Remington's bronze statue "Rattlesnake". It was one of my treasures.

I looked at what Frankie had given me. It was a painting of the statue. His name was in the lower right hand corner.

"You painted this?" I asked him.

"Yes sir," he answered with a big smile. "With the stuff you gave me for Christmas. I took a picture of the statue and painted from that."

I couldn't help myself. Still holding the painting, I hugged him. "Thank you, son. It's wonderful."

He and I spent the next half hour hanging it over the fireplace in the living room. "How about you and I go get some pizza," I suggested.

"Sounds great."

"Better check with your mother," I told him.

He called her and she asked to speak with me. "Is it okay if he goes with you?" she asked.

"Of course.

"Okay. Thank you, Howie."

We had just started down the street as the green car was backing out of the garage. I turned my head to watch it and saw Frankie looking at me. His eyes were big. I couldn't see the driver, but I saw Judy in the passenger seat. They were two cars behind me at the stop sign. I looked in my rearview mirror and saw both of their faces.

Frankie didn't have much to say over pizza, and I didn't ask him anything. After pizza we were on our way home. We had turned onto our street and Frankie asked me to drop him at his house. The green car was gone. "Is your mother home?"

"I don't know."

"Your homework is still at my house, why don't we work on it?"

"Okay."

We were finished with his homework and were watching TV when he spoke. "That green car is my dad's."

"It's a nice car. What kind is it?"

"A Mercedes." There was a pause. "He's been at my house since Friday."

There was a pause. "How long is he going to stay?" I asked.

"We're not sure. They're painting his house and he'll stay until it's finished, I guess."

We both just sat there. He was looking at the floor and I stared off into space. I wondered how many painters worked on weekends.

Neither of us spoke until his phone rang. He looked at it and acted like he didn't want to answer, but did after the third ring. He walked toward the kitchen presumably so I couldn't hear; but I did. "Yes, mom." Pause. "Okay. Is dad still there?" Pause. "Is he spending the night?" Pause. "He knows. I told him." Pause. "Is Dad sleeping with you again?" Longer pause. "Okay." He ended the call and turned to me. "I have to go home."

"Then you better go. Good night," I said. "Thank you for the painting."

He smiled weakly as he collected his books. "Thank you for the pizza." We walked to the door. He turned quickly and looked at me. "Can I come back sometime?"

"Of course. Why would you even ask?"

"Well, I figured you won't be dating my mom any more so you might not want to see me."

I put my arm around his shoulder. "You are welcome here anytime. I mean that." He smiled and left, walking slowly. He had asked his mother if his father was sleeping with her again. I was a bit taken aback by that, but couldn't do anything about it. I watched him walk across my lawn toward his house. The green car was back in their driveway. I spent the rest of the evening sorting out my feelings for Judy and decided that we hadn't been dating long enough for me to have any major concerns about who she sleeps with. I just knew it wouldn't be with me anymore.

I had a meeting of our theatre group that night and was surprised when Lorna showed up. She wanted to borrow some money. She looked pretty bad. As a matter of fact, she looked exactly like you would expect a drug addict to look. I refused to give her any even after she offered to give me a blow job right there. The last time I saw her she was walking down the street.

I called her parents and told them what happened. They told me they didn't care anymore. She had stolen money and other stuff from them to buy drugs and they wanted nothing to do with her.

Most of the next day at work my dad and I spent talking about our Grecian partnership.

My first empty beer bottle of that evening was rinsed out and in the recycle bin and I had just opened my second when the doorbell rang. I opened the door.

"May I come in?" she asked. I stepped aside and she came in. "I should probably explain about John."

"Who's John?"

"My ex-husband. He's the one who spent the weekend at my house."

"Oh, yeah. Nice car."

"He was having his house painted and he asked if he could stay with Frankie and me. I thought it would be good for Frankie and his father to have some quality time, so I told him yes."

"Good. I'm sure they both enjoyed it."

"They did. At least part of it. Sometimes they don't get along."

"How do you and, uh, ... what's his name? John?" She nodded. "How do you and John get along?"

"Like a normal divorced couple I suppose." I wondered to myself if normal divorced couples slept with each other. I'd heard that sex with the ex is supposed to be pretty good, but I would never sleep with Lorna again; even if she weren't on drugs.

"Good. It's better for Frankie to not see his parents fighting."

"We think so." She paused. "So, it's okay with you that John was there?"

"Why should I care? It's your life. Live it the way you like and fuck who you want. I have to get ready for dinner. Thanks for stopping by." I escorted her to the door and tried to usher her out, but she stopped.

"What do you mean by that?"

"By what?"

"That I can fuck who I want."

"Exactly what I said. Look, we were friends who happened to have a few laughs and a few rolls in the hay together. That doesn't mean we owe each other anything; especially excuses for who we choose to sleep with."

"I'm not offering any excuses."

"Good. Then it's all settled, you can fuck who you want to." I managed to usher her out the door that time.

The next day at work I asked my father if there wasn't something I could do in Greece to make myself useful. He laughed. "Woman trouble?"

I chuckled. "Sure enough."

"Want to tell me about it?" he asked.

So I did.

"Do you love her?"

"Probably not. We didn't date long enough for me to know," I said. "But I did like her."

"Did?"

"I don't know, Dad. I'm just not sure anymore."

"Do you know for a fact that she slept with him?"

I told him about overhearing Frankie on the phone with her.

"And she didn't deny it?"

"Nope. And I think it's going to get more awkward because we live so close together."

"It doesn't have to, you know. Just avoid each other."

"That's easier said than done. I like her son and I think I'm a good influence on him. I don't want her to ban him from my house."

"I see your point. You have another option, you know. Just move out of the neighborhood."

We talked some more, but had no solutions. I was beginning to warm to the "move out of the neighborhood" idea.

On Wednesday evening, I was having a beer when my phone rang. It was Judy.

"I just wanted to confirm our date for the weekend," she said.

Call me stupid, hard-ass, thoughtless, unforgiving, irrational, or unsympathetic. You can even invent some new names but I'm here to tell you that there is no way on God's green earth I was going to spend the weekend with her. Oh, the pussy would have been great, but then all pussy is great, and there was plenty of it that wasn't fucking their ex-husbands or anyone else while dating someone else; namely me.

"What was it you said last Friday when I asked you to dinner? Oh, yeah, 'we have plans'. Well, I have plans for the weekend and they don't include women who sleep with their exes while dating me. Goodbye."

The next day was Thursday. Judy and I were supposed to be in bed somewhere that evening, but I was working late. I had no idea where she was. Maybe with her ex-husband. I tried to compare her fucking her ex-husband to my ex-wife Lorna fucking her second-rate movie star. I decided I either had to do a better job of picking women or learn how to be a better man.

On Saturday I went to my favorite breakfast joint and took my time eating a great breakfast. At home afterwards, I was sweeping out my garage when Frankie ran up. "Hi, Mr. Perryman. Want me to do that?"

"Sure Frankie. Help yourself."

When he finished we sat on the front porch and sipped on some iced tea, neither of us saying anything until I started. "I thought you were supposed to be with your father this weekend."

"Nah. When he found out you and my mom were going to spend it together he changed his mind."

"How did he find out? Come to think of it, how did you find out?"

"I heard my mom talking to her sisters. She was pretty excited about it."

"And your father?"

"Mom told him."

"She did?"

Frankie laughed. "She sure did."

"They seem to get along pretty well, your parents."

"Sometimes they do."

"How often does he spend the night?"

"When they painted his house was the only time."

"Did you like it? I mean his staying there."

"Not really."

"But your mother did?"

"I'm not sure."

We sat there for a couple of hours. I heard all about his desire to go to art school, but his mother couldn't afford it and his father wouldn't pay for it. We weren't paying attention to anything but ourselves until someone cleared their throat. We both looked and his mother was standing there.

"You boys want some company?" she asked.

"Uh, no. We were just finishing and I was going inside." I said as I stood.

She moved to stand between the door and me. "Frankie, why don't you go home? Mr. Perryman and I are going to chat for a while."

"We are?" I asked.

"We are," she responded. "Either inside or out here, but we're going to chat."

The look in her eyes told me she wasn't going to brook any dissention.

"Goodbye, Mr. Perryman. See you later," said Frankie as he started home.

"Goodbye, Frankie."

"He likes you," she said.

"I like him. He's a good boy." Resigned to my fate, I said, "Let's go inside."

Inside she started pacing before she spoke, noticed the painting above the fireplace, and stopped pacing. "I wondered where that went," she said.

<hr pg="4" />"He gave it to me," I said. "It's very good."

"Yes it is." Seeing the painting took the wind out of her sails. "Howie, I know what you must be thinking about John staying at the house, but I want you to know that we never slept together and we never had sex. We never kissed, hugged, or even held hands. The only time we associate is when it concerns Frankie."

I looked at her and deep into her eyes. My heart wanted to believe her, but my common sense and my own eyes and ears told a different story. "You can preach that little 'I'm innocent' sermon all you want but this congregation isn't buying it." I told her. "I'm especially not buying it after I heard your own son ask you if his father was going to sleep with you AGAIN. No, Mrs. Phillips, I'm not buying it, so you can take your little fairytale about innocence and try to sell it someplace else." I said all that as I escorted her to the door and pushed her out.

Ten minutes later my phone rang. It was Judy, but I answered it anyway. "Yes?"

"Let me ask you a question, Mr. Holier-than-thou," she said. "If your ex-wife was spending the weekend with you, would you sleep with her?"

"Hell no," I blustered.

"So you're saying that you can control yourself better than I?"

"Apparently I can."

"Not if our first time together is any indication, you can't."

My phone went dead and I stood holding it. That settled it. Regardless of how many times she apologized for laughing at me after that first time, she just proved that she really hadn't forgotten... or forgiven.

Fuck it. I'm moving.

Two days later there was a For Sale sign on my lawn. Frankie saw it and rang my doorbell. "Why are you moving?" he asked.

"I think I need to get closer to my parents, Frankie. If something happens to them I want to be close by," I lied. Was that lie any different than her lying to me about sleeping with her ex? I wondered.

"Will I ever see you again?"

"Sure." We talked for an hour or so before he left.

It took me two weeks to find a new house and close on it. Like the house I was selling, it was to be the property of Perryman and Son. It's amazing what cash can accomplish.

The movers hadn't been there long and I was walking through the house with them before they started moving stuff. We worked our way back to the front door and Judy was standing there.

We looked at each other for a long time before she spoke. "You're really doing it. You're really moving."

"I am."

"Because of me?"

"No. Because of us. Because of our first time together, and you made it perfectly clear the last time we spoke on the phone that YOU hadn't forgotten it and weren't going to let ME forget it either. I don't want to be reminded of it every time I drive by your house or see you. I also don't want to be reminded of you sleeping with your ex-husband or anybody else every time I drive by and see a different car in your drive.

"Oh. My God, Howie. I didn't mean it. I was mad. I'm sorry. I won't do it again, I promise."

"I believe you honestly think you won't do it anymore ... at least not until you get pissed at me again. Goodbye, Judy."

Frankie called me at least once a week. We used one of the teleconferencing apps to talk about his homework and his life in general including college. My degree was in chemistry and he asked lots of questions about how difficult the courses were and what you could do with a degree in it. Neither of us ever mentioned either of his parents. I even picked him up at his house several times so we could go have pizza. Each time I picked him up or dropped him off, I neither looked for nor saw, Judy.

I was surprised one day when I checked the mail and there was an envelope from the movie studio. It had been forwarded from my other house. I opened it and there were two tickets to the premiere of the movie they filmed in town. I had forgotten all about that movie. I almost threw them away, but decided to hang on to them for a while.

The next week I received a call from Lorna. She wanted to know where her ticket to the premiere was.

"You don't have one. They were both sent to Mr. Howard Perryman; not Howard and Lorna Perryman, so they both belong to me. If you would like to go, why don't you see if your fuckbuddy and drug supplier can get you one?" I ended the call.

I sat on those tickets for another week and finally blocked Lorna's phone because I got tired of hearing her beg for one of them. I was glad she didn't know where I had moved to otherwise she would have camped out at my front door.

I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but I wouldn't give her one to save my soul from hell.

It was just two weeks before the premiere and Frankie called me. He asked if he could come over that evening because his mother had a date. "Of course you can." Judy brought him over and left.

He smiled when he saw his painting hanging over the fireplace.

For the first time, Frankie mentioned a girl. She was a year older, but he liked her. It was fun listening to him talk about her. They had gone on two movie dates. He had his license, but Judy, like his girlfriend's parents, wouldn't let him drive on dates. In fact, Judy would barely let him drive at all and he complained about how mean she was.

I excused myself for a minute and went to look at the premiere tickets. There was no age limit or PG rating so I took them out to Frankie.

"I have a deal for you," I said.

"What's that?" he asked.

"How would you like to really impress her?"

"How would I do that?"

I explained how big of a deal a movie premiere was and how any girl would be impressed with any guy who could get tickets to one. Then I handed him the tickets. I also gave him enough money for a limo, tux rental, and dinner. He was overjoyed and talked about how he was going to impress her. He had never ridden in a limo and that was just as exciting to him as impressing the girl. I was sure Judy would have fun helping him get ready for a big evening like that. A short time later Judy pulled into the drive and honked her horn. Frankie jumped up, thanked me again, and ran to her car.

I never saw either of them again until after the premiere. I did see TV coverage of it, however. Lots of state and local VIP's including short interviews with three of the local citizens who worked as extras. Lorna, thank goodness, was not one of the three. I did catch a glimpse of her on TV however. John Kincade was being interviewed and Lorna, who was trying hard to be recognized, was in the background trying to get his attention. She looked like she had lost thirty pounds and her face was sunken in. It looked like her drugs were taking their toll.

The call from Frankie came early on Saturday morning.

"I wanted to thank you for the tickets. We had a great time. Riding in the limo was cool."

I laughed. "Good. Did your date enjoy it?"

"The limo or the evening?"

"Uh. Both I guess."

"She said she did. It wasn't her first time in a limo, though."

"No?"

"No. She rode in one for her wedding."

"Her wedding? How old is she?"

He laughed. "It's my Mom. I hope you don't mind, but I decided to take her."

I knew I liked that kid. "Good for you."

It was during our conversation that I remembered the park scene where Lorna's tits were being sucked by Kincade. "Uh, Frankie. How did you like the scene where two actors were walking through the park?"

"I never saw a park scene, Mr. Perryman."

"I guess I was thinking of another movie." I just lied to him for the second time. I breathed a sigh of relief. They must have left that scene on the cutting room floor.

It was early evening two days later when Frankie called again. I had worked late, which was happening more and more often, and was getting ready to go home.

"Hello, Frankie."

"Mr. Perryman, my mom fell off a ladder and she's hurt. I called 911 and they're on their way. Can you come over?"

"On my way." I thought again how nice of a young man he was; despite how we met.

They were just taking her out when I got there. "Is she okay?" I asked one of the attendants.

"Howie? Is that you?"

"It's me. Are you okay?"

"My leg's broken, but otherwise, I think I'm fine."

"Can I do anything? Should we call Frankie's father?"

"No. Don't. Could you take care of Frankie?"

"Of course."

I looked at the EMT and raised my eyebrows in question.

"She'll be in the hospital overnight. Maybe two nights depending on what x-rays and tests show."

"Thank you. I'll bring her son down shortly." He nodded.

I turned to Frankie and put my arm around his shoulder. "Grab your PJ's and toothbrush." We went in their house. The ladder she fell from was in her office. She had been changing a light bulb in her ceiling. The ladder was still on its' side. It had been a long time since I had been in that room. I looked around to see if anything needed to be turned off and noticed that her computer was still on. I reached to turn it off but stopped when I glanced at the screen. My name was there. It appeared she was in the process of writing me a letter. I started to read it. "Dear Howard," it started. "I have tried to write this letter more times than I can count and the words I write never seem adequate enough to express my feelings." I felt Frankie by my side and looked at him guiltily. I reached and turned her computer off. "Let's go," I said.

On the way to the hospital I asked Frankie why he wasn't on the ladder changing the bulb instead of his mother. He told me that she had asked him several times and he just hadn't gotten around to it, so she got upset and did it herself. Another example of her showing her anger. I was willing to excuse that; after all, everybody loses their temper occasionally.

It took us another twenty minutes to get to the hospital and found she was in surgery.

We were sitting side-by-side in one of the waiting areas. I asked Frankie if he was hungry. For the first time since I'd known him, he said no to food. The only other people there were a young couple who huddled together for an hour or so before leaving. As soon as they were gone, Frankie spoke. "Did you read all of her letter?"

"No, I didn't."

"She likes you, Mr. Perryman. She likes you a lot. I've heard her talking to her sisters on the phone and she says she hurt you. How did she hurt you, Mr. Perryman? Is it because she slept with my father?"

I had no intention of getting in that discussion with him.

"Is that why are you mad with her?" he persisted.

"At her, Frankie. Not with her."

"Okay. She likes you but you are mad AT her. Why can't you just ... just ... I don't know. Why can't you do what grown-ups tell kids to do and forgive each other. She said she was sorry. I know because she has written it hundreds of times and she told her sisters over and over. And once she apologizes you have to forgive her. That's what she always tells me. She's apologized to you, Mr. Perryman. I've heard her. So why can't you forgive her?"

The teenage boy I met after he ransacked my house and stole my TV leaned into my arms and was crying. I think he was frightened more because of his mother being hurt than her relationship with me; but he was crying just the same.

Why is it most men feel helpless around people who cry? For lack of knowing what else to do, I just held him. Fortunately, a nurse came and told us we could see her. "You go ahead. I'll wait for you here," I told him. He just looked at me and left.

He was with her for over an hour before coming out. That time gave me an opportunity to decide what I was going to say to him, but I just couldn't think of anything I thought he might understand.

"Would you like to stay at my house or would you rather call your father?" I asked when he came out. "Maybe we can drop you by his house for the night."

"No, sir. I think I would like to stay here with my mother." He said it very formally.

"Will they let you?"

"Yes, sir. There's a chair by her bed and she said it would be okay."

"Okay. I'll walk you to her room."

"You don't have to. I know my way, but thank you."

I went with him anyway. When we got there he went in and I stood outside."

"Did he come with you?" I heard her ask.

"He walked me here, but didn't stay," said Frankie.

"I don't know what else to do."

Enough was enough. I walked in. He was sitting on the far side edge of her bed holding her hand. They were lost in their own thoughts and didn't pay any attention to me. Frankie was the first to see me. He looked at me, stood, and smiled. Judy jerked her head in the direction he was looking. It took a second for her to realize it was me.

"Wha ... what are you doing here?" she asked.

"I wanted to see how you were and if there was anything I could do for you."

"I'm fine. Thank you for taking care of Frankie."

"You're welcome." I looked at Frankie. "He's a fine young man. You should be proud of him."

"I am."

The three of us just stood and looked at each other. Finally, Judy spoke to Frankie. "Sweetie, there's something I have to tell Mr. Perryman. Would you wait outside, please?" He was still smiling as he went out and closed the door. She looked right at me and started speaking as soon as the door was closed.

"I'm sorry about what I said about our first time together. It was a childish thing to do and I just wanted to hurt you."

"You succeeded." We looked at each other. "You're sorry about that, but not sorry for sleeping with your ex then lying about it?" I asked.

She jerked her head toward me. "I slept with him to get him to pay for Frankie to go to art school."

"Does that mean every time Frankie needs something you're going to fuck your ex-husband or anybody else with money?"

"No. I hated it and I felt like a whore."

"If he gave you money for fucking him, regardless of what the money was for, you are a whore."

She looked back at me defiantly. "I don't see it that way. I was ... am ... a mother desperate to give her son everything she can to help him have a better life."

"How about the men you've dated recently? Do they think it's okay for you to fuck your ex and lie about it?"

"I've only gone out with one other man and then only because my sister and her husband tricked me into it because I was feeling sorry for myself and I had a miserable time I might add."

"Did you lie to him?"

She never had a chance to answer because there was a knock on the door and Frankie stuck his head in. "May I come in?" he asked.

She looked at me and I shrugged. "Of course, sweetie," she told him.

He came in and stood beside me. It dawned on me yet again that I liked the kid. I liked his mother as well, but ...

The three of us just looked at each other. I spoke first. "Frankie, since you're staying here tonight, why don't you get your stuff from my car? You'll need your toothbrush. Besides, I have to leave."

Frankie and I started out of the room.

"I'll be right back, Mom," he said.

"All right, sweetie. Howie?" I stopped to look at her. "Will you be back?"

I shook my head. "Goodbye."

Time went by and I missed both of them. I started to call her several times, but couldn't. People lied all the time. I lied to Frankie. Twice. People who wanted to do business with Perryman and Son lied. Why was Judy lying about sleeping with her ex bothering me so much? I guess the bottom line was I thought that if she lied once, she'd do it again. I only knew that I missed her.

The next time I heard from either of them was weeks later when I received a High School graduation announcement from Frankie. I thought about getting him more art supplies as his graduation present, but wasn't sure if he still dabbled in art, or if he was going to art school and would have much better equipment than I would buy. I just put a check in an envelope for him.

At his graduation, I saw Judy surrounded by several people, so I chose not to say anything to her. After the ceremony, I found Frankie, congratulated him, and gave him the envelope. He seemed genuinely happy to see me. "What are you going to do now?" I asked him.

"I've been accepted at State, so I'm going there," he said.

"I thought your father was going to pay for you to go to art school."

"He changed his mind."

"What will your Major be?" I asked.

He grinned. "I'm going to surprise you."

His mother and her group walked up just then and everybody congratulated and fawned over him. Judy and the other ladies hugged him. She said nothing to me and I had nothing more to say, so I said goodbye to Frankie and walked away.

I hadn't gotten ten feet when I heard my name. I turned and Judy was there. "Hi," she said.

"Hi," I responded.

"How have you been?"

"Pretty good. You?"

"Likewise."

We just looked at each other before I spoke. "Well, I should be leaving. It was good seeing you again."

"Yeah. It was good seeing you, too."

I turned and started to leave and felt a tug on my sleeve. I turned back yet again.

"Are you ever going to forgive me?" she asked.

I didn't hesitate. "For sleeping with your ex, of course. I've even gotten over our first night together and your habit of bringing it up when you get pissed. But I can't forgive the lie."

She looked at me. Tears were forming in her eyes. "That's the bottom line, isn't it? The lie. The fact that I lied about sleeping with John. You will never be able to love me enough to forgive me for lying."

"It's not just the lie. It's the fact that you've never apologized for it; like it was not something worth apologizing for."

"But I do apologize, Howie. I'm deeply and sincerely sorry. Sleeping with that asshole was bad, but lying about it was worse, and lying to the man I love was inexcusable." She literally fell into my arms crying. "I'm sorry, Howie. I'm so sorry."

"Howie? Is everything okay?" Asked the woman with the heavy accent approaching us.

It had just dawned on me that Judy said she loved me. "Oh, yeah. Everything's fine. She just got a little emotional."

Judy stepped away from me and wiped her tears as she looked at me then at the woman who was now standing next to me.

"I'm sorry," I said. "Judy this is Sophia. Sophia, Judy. Judy is Frankie's mother."

"Oh. Congratulations. Howie speaks about him. You must be proud for him." There was a silence before Sophia spoke again. "Howie, we have to leave or we'll miss plane. It was nice to meet you, Judy."

I looked at Judy. "Good bye." Sophia and I walked away.

We hadn't gotten far when Sophia spoke. "That is her? The woman you love?"

"I never said I loved her."

"You don't have to say. It shows in your face and heart. Why you don't tell her you love her?"

"I don't know."

"American men are stupid. You just let her cry."

"Yes, we are stupid."

"So, you will be miserable all your life and so will she because you are, how you say it ... like ass, mule ... ah, stubborn is the word. Yes? You are stubborn?"

"Yes."

"Too much pride, you have. Broken heart you have. Miserable life you have. Business smarts you have, but romantic heart is hiding. Better to live with love than money."

She stopped walking, took my arm and turned me to face her. "Go back. Tell her you love her. Live good life. I go back to Greece and tell my father how good our business is." I just looked at her. "Go, stupid American man." She grinned when she said it and pushed me back in the direction we came. "I see you in four months in Greece. Bring your love with you. I will explain to her how to live with stubborn man." She laughed as she walked away. "Good bye my friend. See you in Greece."

I yelled after her. "Sophia? How will you get to the airport?"

"Taxi. I get my bags from your car. Go kiss your woman."

I walked back to Frankie's little group. One of the women had her arms around a still sobbing Judy. I reached and pulled Judy away. "I'll take over," I said and pulled Judy into my arms. She lifted her head and looked at me. When she saw who it was she threw her arms around me and really started crying. One of the men in her group took control and moved everyone away from us. I learned later he was Judy's brother, James, but everybody called him Jimmy.

<hr pg="5" />"Frankie, I'm taking your mother with me. We'll catch up with you later. Okay?"

He had a huge smile. "Take your time, Mr. Perryman. Take your time."

I grabbed Judy's hand. "Come on." I started running almost dragging her. We got to my car just as Sophia was trying to open the car door. It was locked. "Sophia. We'll take you." Sophia got in the back while Judy got in front. Judy was still in something of a daze; actually, so was I.

"Where are we going?" Judy asked.

"We have to get Sophia to the airport. She's flying home."

Judy turned to look at Sophia. "I saw you with Howie and I thought ..."

"Don't thought .. er, ah ... think. Just love. Howie love you plenty. But like most men, even Greek men, he stubborn. You come to Greece with him and I show how to fix stubborn man. Maybe make him just a little jealous, no?"

"NO, oh, God no. I'll never make him jealous," said Judy. She looked at me and took my right hand off the steering wheel and put a death grip on it and kept it that way until we got to the airport. Meanwhile, Sophia was explaining to her how to treat me and to me how I should treat Judy.

We dropped her off. Judy hugged her and she kissed me on both cheeks. "See you both in four months." She said as she sashayed into the terminal rolling her suitcase and carryon.

We were in the car when Judy asked who she was. "Her father owns a company in Greece that we are partners with."

"I was jealous when I saw her with you."

"You needn't be."

"Oh, shit. I have to call Frankie." When he answered he asked where she was. "I'm with Howie, er, Mr. Perryman. We're just leaving the airport."

"Airport? What are you doing there?"

"I'll tell you when I see you. Listen, do you still have your key for my car?"

"Yes."

Would you mind driving it home for me?" She looked at me and smiled. "I think I have a ride home."

"Where did you park?"

"In the faculty parking lot someplace. You'll find it."

She turned sideways in her seat and looked at me. "I love you," she said. "I started loving you the first night you took Frankie and me to dinner. You weren't like the three other guys I had dated since my divorce. You treated Frankie like he was your own son. They treated him like an obstacle to overcome in order to get in my knickers." She paused for just a minute. "I slept with him for nothing the asshole. I slept with him and he reneged on Frankie's art school."

"I know. Frankie told me."

She started talking again and didn't shut up until we got to her house. Frankie beat us and was standing in the door waiting. We walked up to him holding hands.

"Well, Mr. High School Graduate. What would you like to do now?" I asked him.

He looked at his mother, then me. "Could the three of us go out like we did that first time?"

We did and it was just as much fun as the first time. We did it several more times before he left for State. The day he left, Judy moved in with me. A month after that we flew to Greece for two weeks. We went back for our honeymoon nine months after that. At our wedding, Frankie walked her down the aisle and my father was my best man.

Our wedding night was spent on a plane flying to Greece. The first class cubicles aren't meant for two and were configured so that we couldn't even hold hands; but we could look at each other. Sophia, her father, and her fiancé met us at the airport and took us to our hotel. They didn't bother us for two days.

Making love to a woman is the best experience in the world, but making love to your wife is even better. You knew that every inch of her belonged to you and only you. No other man would ever touch what she gave you. Likewise, no other woman would ever touch or experience what you held only for your wife. It was amazing.

Of course, all of that was if both partners honored the marriage vows.

In Athens we were so excited that even jet lag didn't deter us. Sophia's Father's Company left Champagne, and some Greek sweet treats in our room. We ignored them.

I enjoy undressing Judy, but I think watching her brings me more enjoyment. She knows how each muscle should move to provide the most erotic sensation. Each flip of a shoulder, or toss of hair causes a new feeling somewhere in my body and it reacts in a manner I've never experienced.

When we were undressed, the fun really began. We could touch and kiss every bump, nook, and cranny of each other's bodies. But mostly we could take our time and explore each other and when we were finished exploring, we could use each other to satisfy the carnal needs the other things we did built up in us.

The in and out of dick in pussy is the gold standard of sex. Missionary, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, doggie, and others. Pussy pounding was IT. Oral sex was great and Judy was a pro at giving head. I enjoyed it as well and prided myself on the sensations my tongue could create, but old fashioned dick and pussy made the best music every time.

Most nights we would do something sexual; touch each other or massage each other or fuck each other. There were also nights when snuggling was the perfect thing to do.

Frankie graduated from State and he did, in fact, surprise me with his Major. He chose chemistry, my own Major. Immediately after graduation, he came to work for Perryman and son. Three years after that, my father retired and Frankie became my assistant. He married his college sweetheart, and they have two daughters.

Judy and I go to Greece at least once a year. While there we stay with Sophia and her husband or the four of us take short cruises around the Islands.

My ex-wife, Lorna, can still be seen walking the streets of the city selling herself for enough money to buy her next fix and bragging to anyone who will listen about how she once fucked a Hollywood movie star.
