Call it Karma, divine intervention, or maybe a series of errors coming together, but that is how the revolt of the nerd took place. My name is Matt Davis. My friend Ben and I are just kind, gentle, highly intelligent men who happen to be married to two intelligent career minded women. All four of us work for Jeffers insurance company based in Chicago.

I work in the IT department maintaining the computer system at corporate in Chicago and its branches in the Midwest. I was hired right out of college in 1996. My job requires some travel to the branch offices for onsite software upgrades or major hardware replacement.

I met Brenda at the university where I was finishing my masters and working part time in the computer lab as an assistant and tutor. She kept showing up asking for help with her classes. I didn't mind. She was a petite beauty with brown hair, sparkling blue eyes, and a perfectly shaped figure. One evening she invited me to coffee as a thank you for all the help. For the first time in my life I found an intelligent woman who made me feel comfortable talking to her. We began sharing coffee and conversation quite frequently during the week. One evening she informed me I was taking her out to Chili's on Saturday night. She had tried flirting and subtle suggestions for me to get the hint. Now I could either take her out or forget seeing her again.

We continued to meet for coffee or dinner for the rest of the year. During that time I never saw her date anyone else. When I asked her about it, she said she had found the one she wanted. She just had to wait again until he figured it out and decided to do something about it. I may be slow in the romance department but I caught that hint. It was the first time I took her home and we made love. I was a virgin at the time, but Brenda was patient and took the time to explain what to do to make her feel good. We started spending every weekend at my place. I was a good student for Brenda and caught on fast. I no time at all I could keep her very happy all weekend. We continued as a couple even after I graduated the following year. That's when I landed the job in Chicago. We would talk on the phone during the week and I would drive to Champaign a couple of weekends every month. After a year of this I asked her if she would rather just date other men at college rather than be with me. She said she only had one year left and I was still the one she wanted. It would help however if I would propose to her now and we could be married when she graduated. I always like her practical ideas, so that is what I did that following weekend. We were married the week after she graduated.

Brenda was hired in the marketing department at the Jeffers Insurance. Her job required occasional travel to the branch offices to explain a new product rollout or a new twist on an old product line.

Brenda's close friend Marcie hired on in the legal department. Her husband Ben, a CPA, was hired in accounting. The two women had been friends since freshman year at college. Ben and Marcie bought a townhouse about five blocks from ours.

Another college friend, June, hired on about a year later. June's husband Jerry was in sales for a supply company and covered the Midwest district.

Life was good for us. The pay was good. We both received nice raises and bonuses. We lived in my townhouse and had 2 nice cars. We took a great vacation together every year. Brenda now had old friends around to enjoy the good life with.

The one thing I didn't like in our life was the lack of children. When I bought the townhouse before we were married, I picked a four bedroom model with the idea of a family. When I would bring the idea up to Brenda, she would just smile and tell me the time was not right in our lives yet. Maybe in a year or two we would be in positions where we wouldn't have to travel and then we could devote our time together to raising a family. She always had the practical answer.

The revolt started one Saturday when I was finishing up my report for the upgrade work I finished in Detroit on Friday. My printer ran out of ink while I was making a hard copy of the report. Like every Saturday, Brenda and Marcie were at the Spa so I couldn't ask where she kept the spare cartridge in her home office. While I was searching through the drawers I found a couple of interesting things beside the cartridge I needed. One was a standard investment account statement in Brenda's name only at Fidelity. It showed an electronic transfer from our joint checking every month for the last quarter. The current balance was now about $200,000. We discussed our finances every month and this account was never mentioned.

The other item was an old leather bound journal with The Sisterhood engraved on the cover. Inside were handwritten entries dating back to the late 60s. I knew Marcie, June, and Brenda belonged to an organization in college called the Sisterhood. The three went to the annual reunion every year.

The book listed every member since 1968. After every woman's name was where she currently lived, who she worked for and position attained, marital status with spouses name and place of employment , children with date of birth, plus current email address and a home and work number. Everything seemed to be kept very up to date. I found Marcie, June, and Brenda listed in 1998 along with 3 other woman. I decided to copy the book on the scanner in my basement office while my report finished printing. After I returned the journal I decided to check Brenda's computer for any more info on the Sisterhood and our financial accounts.

Since nothing was password protected, Brenda evidently didn't expect me to check in her computer. Inside was the email list for every woman in the Sisterhood plus a list of the current officers. I found out Brenda is the Historian until reelection in 2010. Email from members of the Sisterhood to Brenda kept her informed of changes in members lives for the book. It also included a reminder to make room reservations for the annual reunion for the 3rd weekend in August. Brenda told me the reunion was for the week. Brenda and her friends always booked a 2 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds in each room at the Hyatt.

The Quicken files showed money being transferred to the Fidelity account every month for over the last 8 years. Also contributions to my retirement account had been stopped last month with that money now going into the Fidelity account. I decided to copy email info and the quicken data onto a flash drive. I closed down Brenda's computer and put everything back where I found it.

I sat in my basement office looking at the copied Sisterhood journal. The women had some impressive positions in many fields. The beginning women were holding some very powerful positions in large and midsized corporations. They also had solid family lives, with divorce almost nonexistent. The daughters of these women became future Sisters in almost every instance. They seemed to concentrate on careers with future networking possibilities. The more I viewed, the more impressed I became with what these women had achieved. They had created a female version of "The Men's Club". They were climbing the corporate ladder and aiding younger "sisters" in getting a start.

I noticed things started to change in 1993. The family life of the women seemed to disintegrate. Out of 6 sisters, only three had a solid family life with children. The other three were divorced with no children. The oddity besides the lack of children was the fact the divorces happened after 9-10 years of marriage. The results were roughly the same for 1994-1997. One name I recognized was Jim Thompson. He worked for Jeffers insurance in Detroit. I just saw him on Friday.

I logged into the company directory and looked up Jim's home and cell phone numbers. Jim was the building supervisor for the Detroit branch so he should be reachable 24/7.

I called, Jim picked up by the third ring. "Hey Jim, it's Matt Davis. How you doing?"

"As good as can be expected" Jim said," What's the reason for the weekend call? I thought you finished up here Friday?"

"I did. I was looking at a journal I found today; it showed Amy as divorced. When I asked about her a few months ago you said everything was great. You and Amy were talking about starting a family. What happened Jim?"

"I really still don't know Matt. One month were talking about starting a family, and two months later I come home from a fishing trip and find myself locked out of my own condo and some guy waiting to serve me divorce papers. It was like Amy had planned this for quite a while. She even talked me into taking the trip with two other college buddies. The same thing happened to them upon returning. Almost like a conspiracy."

"Jim, did the other 2 guys graduate with you and Amy in96?" I asked.

"Ray did," Jim said,"But Tom graduated a year ahead of us. Why do you ask?"

"One second Jim," I replied, "Here it is. Was Ray married to Marie and Tom married to Beth?"

"Yes. That's their former wives. Why do you ask? You're starting to freak me out here Matt "

"They are all listed in the book I found today Jim. Seems all of our wives are members of an organization called the Sisterhood," I stated. "What I found interesting is that the divorce rate of the Sisterhood was almost nonexistent from its creation in 1968 to about 2002. Then it suddenly jumped to 50% from 2003 to now. The divorces are all after about 10 years of marriage. Another question Jim, did Amy handle all the finances for the family? Do you know if Ray and Tom's wives did also?

"Amy, Marie, and Beth belonged," Jim responded as I could detect a trace of anger in his voice as he remembered his ex. "They went to a weeklong reunion once a year."

"Amy took care of our finances. I can contact Ray and Tom. Give me a call on my cell about Tuesday and I will see what I can find out for you. From what your speculating the women in this organization are some cold hearted plotting bitches."

"Take care Jim, I hope I'm wrong on this one but it's not looking good."

I went over to the Spy Guys shop on Devon Avenue and picked up a few thinks I would need.

I placed audio wireless bugs in the living room, kitchen and Brenda's office. I placed an inline tap on the phone line also. I placed all the remote recorders in the basement under my workbench. I placed a wireless bug in Brenda's car with the recorder in the truck behind the spare tire.

The rest of the weekend was our normal weekend. Brenda and I went out for dinner and dancing. We returned home for a night of hot sex followed by gentle loving Sunday morning.

My call Tuesday to Jim confirmed my worst suspicion. They all had been married about 10 years. Their wives handled the family finances. Money was moved out of the joint accounts months in advance of the divorce papers being served.

.Everything was quiet and normal for a month. On checking the recorder in Brenda's car, I found a very interesting conversation with June and Marcie. They must have gone out for lunch. They were excited about the guys coming over in a week. Brenda said the guys would be over about 7:00 the Tuesday Matt leaves. She said they would find some work to keep Ben tied up in Springfield until at least Thursday.

Guys!! What guys! Who are these guys? I listened to the recording again becoming even more agitated than I already was. I took a long walk in the park trying to analyze what I heard rationally. After convincing myself to Brenda's probable adultery, I mentally made my list for the coming days.

Seeing Brenda as I entered the house and remembering her excited voice about the guys caused me to grimace as my stomach tightened like I had been punched. Brenda asked me what was wrong as I ran for the bathroom and vomited in the toilet. I looked pale like death warmed over as I washed out my mouth and wiped my face. As I walked out of the bathroom and slowly climbed the stairs, I mumbled something about flu to Brenda as I headed for the guest room. As I rested on the bed with my eyes closed, Brenda came in the room for a moment before continuing to her office. I could hear her talking to someone but couldn't make out the words. It was a rough sleep as I had visions of Brenda with other men as I stood outside looking in. She would look at me and smile as she talked to her lover, Then she would break out in laughter and point toward me. The men would look toward me and chuckle as they each fucked her. I woke up trembling in a cold sweat hoping morning would soon come. I must have really looked sick when Brenda saw me in the morning. She told me to stay in bed and call her if I felt worse. She would check back with me at lunch

I showered and dressed as soon as I heard her car leave. I listened to Brenda's conversation last night as I drank my coffee. She had talked to Marcie about my sudden illness. She was hoping it would clear up before next week.

I called divorce attorney Janet Lawson at 9:00. She wanted to see me next week until I said I had a Sisterhood problem. Janet said she was ready to listen. I explained what I had discovered so far and what I had recorded. I said I needed someone to wire my house for video surveillance today while Brenda was at work. She asked for my name and address, then told me to call back in 15 minutes.

When I called back, she assured me a team would arrive within the hour. Janet also wanted to see me at her office on Saturday.

I went up to Brenda's room. I figured she was clever enough to have a way of separating the rogue from the regular list of sisters. Not finding a list hiding anywhere, I checked on the computer. I noticed the sisters were in an excel format. I printed out Janet's card and compared it to Marcie and Brenda. The only difference was between the email address and the line for the home phone number was the word "OK".

I tried for a batching of cards with line 22 equals OK. I got 30 hits. I printed that out. Then I added the occupation with Line 14 equals Jeffers Insurance. I got 10 hits. I printed out that list. I think I just hit the gold mine. I closed down Brenda's computer and returned to my basement office. I matched the names to the copy of the Sisterhood journal. All thirty names became sisters between 1992 and now. Of the rogue sisters between 1992 and 97, every one of them was divorced. The names in the Journal for the same time span but not on my list had one divorce. I had discovered the rogue list.

I sat at the kitchen table scanning between the list and the journal looking for an inconsistency when the doorbell rang. Three men in blue jumpsuits came in and identified themselves. I explained what I had installed already and what I suspected would happen when I was out of town next week. I showed them the rooms and where I had the recorders in the basement. Due to the length of time I would be away, they went with wireless mini cameras that were motion activated. They would snap a picture every 2 minutes. We would have plenty of space on the recorders for my trip. The recorders were on a timer set to start on Tuesday and end on Friday. The men had the cameras hidden and tested to the recorders in two hours. I watched a little TV until Brenda called around noon. I said I was feeling better but would rest and go to work tomorrow. She sounded relieved to hear that.

Saturday, Brenda and Marcie went to the spa. I went to Janet Lawson's office.

Ms. Lawson viewed me cautiously until I showed her a copy of the Sisterhood Journal and the list I printed out. I explained what I had discovered about Brenda and her friends being part of some faction of the sisterhood. I showed her the pattern how suddenly select Sisters from my list started getting divorces in 2003. The couples were married about 10 years and there were no children involved. It was almost as if the Sisters married the men to gain wealth. I told her about my conversation with Jim. How the husbands had no reason to believe the marriage was in trouble and then suddenly being locked out of the house and served papers.

Then I explained my own problem. I told Janet I thought Brenda planned on divorcing me sometime this year. I explained about Brenda's secret account and the changes to my retirement account.

Janet listened quietly until I finished. She asked me what I wanted to do. I told her I was going to divorce Brenda charging her with adultery if my suspicions are correct about this coming week. I wanted her to leave with only what she earned. I bought the townhouse before we were married and didn't plan on giving her the house or half its value. I told her that unless we are rushed I wanted my wife served on the Thursday morning before the Sisterhood Reunion. That would give me time to separate our finances and gather any more information.

I told Janet she would definitely find the rogue faction on the 11th floor of the Hyatt between Monday and Sunday on the 3rd week of August. I explained how Brenda and her friends always went for the whole week and always rented a suite on the 11th floor of the Hyatt. I said Jim confirmed the same thing about Amy and her friends. I figure the other rogues will do the same thing. She said she would have that theory quietly checked out.

Tuesday morning I drove to Midway airport then flew out to Cleveland. I had 3 days worth of software and hardware changes. I finished up Thursday night and returned to Chicago by noon Friday. I contacted the PI on my way home. He met me at the house and changed out the recorder discs. Photo prints would be at Janet's office by Saturday morning.

Friday evening Brenda moved around the house like she was sore and acted different during dinner. We talked about her week. If she didn't mind, I told her I was tired from the trip and going to bed. Brenda said she would clean up the kitchen, then watch a little TV before coming to bed. She kissed me on the cheek as I started upstairs. I showered quickly and went to bed. I could hear Brenda talking to someone on the phone. She hung up when she realized the shower wasn't running.

Saturday Marcie picked up Brenda for the Spa. Before I went to Janet's office I followed Marcie. She traveled about 3 miles and turned into an upscale development where she parked in front of a brick townhouse. Brenda and Marcie went to the front door and knocked. Duncan Hill answered the door and let them in. I parked down the street writing down the address when Quinn pulled up across the street and went into the townhouse. I waited 15 minutes; when no one else arrived I continued over to Janet's office to pick up the copy of the PI's photos. I told her what I had observed before coming to her office.

I looked at the photos Janet handed me. Brenda, Marcie, and June seemed to be enjoying themselves taking care of Quinn Johnson, Frank Robe, Ralph Stone, and Duncan Hill. It looked like they had an orgy in the living room on Tuesday as they tried every combination imaginable. Marcie and Brenda spent the night together in the master bedroom. The next night they split up and used the bedrooms. In the first quest room Marcie was fucking Frank Robe Cowgirl. June was on her back in the other quest room with Ralph Stone's head buried between her legs as she arched her back and screamed. Brenda was being double teamed on our bed. Duncan had his cock in her mouth while Quinn was fucking her doggie style. Then the men would stop and switch. The next photo showed Brenda on her back, her legs up and apart as Duncan fucked her. Then Quinn took his place and fucked her fast. Then both men picked up their clothes and left. Brenda laid there for about 15 minutes trembling as cum leaked out of her unto the bed.

Janet smiled as I identified each man in the photos as upper management for Jeffers Insurance and what his title was. She said the divorce just got costly for the insurance company. Janet reminded me to start putting my financial affairs in order because I only had a month to go.

I went home and listened to the audio recordings. The tape from the phone tap yielded a conversation between Brenda and Marcie. Marcie wanted to know when she was going to file for divorce because the 10 year mark was coming up. Brenda said she thought in October. She was trying to find a way to get part or all of the townhouse. Marcie told her she already had half interest as a spouse until Brenda told her I bought it before we were married. Marcie suggested catching me with another woman and divorce me for adultery. Brenda told her I was too faithful to cheat on her. Marcie laughed and said too bad Matt's wife didn't think the same way.

I had dinner started when Brenda came in. She hurried upstairs and changed before coming into the kitchen to see me. I made us a couple of drinks and told her dinner would be ready in 30 minutes. She asked how the Cleveland work went and how she missed me. I told her the Cleveland job kept me very busy but I still missed her every evening I was away. We enjoyed dinner and our weekend sex. I remarked about her bruises on her breasts and thighs. She said she fell down the stairs Wednesday evening. The pain was already gone and she forgot to tell me about it.

Monday I accessed the Fidelity account. I sold all the mutual funds except one. That would leave Brenda $10,000 in the account when I was finished. I accessed my home computer and updated my resume. I emailed a copy to a few places in central Illinois that I was interested in. Some place with no travel. I checked Brenda's email account she sent one to Zack reminding him about Indianapolis and to meet her at the Sheraton, room 304 at 7:00 Tuesday. Zack responded that he would be there and he had a special treat for her Wednesday. I phoned Janet and gave her Brenda's room number and the related email information. She said to consider it taken care of.

Brenda called to have me pick up Chinese on way home. She just found out she was flying to Indianapolis tomorrow for a two day seminar.

I left work a little early to pick up the food and beat Brenda home. I checked the fidelity account the sales were completed. I placed an electronic transfer for $190,000 to the joint checking account.

After dinner, Brenda went upstairs to pack. I went to the garage to check the recorder in Brenda's car. She was telling Marcie she would be meeting Zack in Indianapolis Tuesday and Wednesday. Marcie said to tell Zack she expected equal time when they met in Champaign. Brenda suggested she or June seduce me while she was out of town. She said I really was pretty good just not in Zack's league. Make sure they got pictures without their faces in them. She also said she received email confirming the suite from Monday to Sunday. It would be room 1102 like she requested. Marcie said she was getting wet just thinking about the reunion being only 3 weeks away.

I was shocked by Brenda's statement. She must be starting her divorce plans now. I would have to be careful not to do anything to make her suspicious until she left for the reunion. I returned to the house and cleaned up the kitchen before checking on Brenda. I carried her luggage out to the car while Brenda prepared for bed. I showered and went through my nightly routine before turning in. I made love to Brenda telling her I would miss her until she returned on Thursday. She told me she would miss me too.

Tuesday Brenda flew down to Indianapolis. I notified Janet about Brenda's room number in Champaign. She said her contacts were confirming my theory on the Sisters. The women on my list were reserving the rooms on the 11th floor. The PI would have the whole floor wired in plenty of time. They would have the legal shots from the security cameras in the halls and elevators. They would also have the illegal shots in the rooms. One of the "good Sisters" managed the Hyatt. All traces of the illegal operation would be removed before anyone knew what happened.

Wednesday, Quinn sent me to Springfield to swap out a couple of PCs. I was starting to be sent on minor jobs that the IT person on site could handle. I wasn't sure why, but it was helping me with my plans. I stopped in Bloomington on the way and interviewed for a position at the university. They liked my resume and work record. I told them I could start about September 1. I wanted to give my employer enough notice and I would like to have a couple of weeks to move. They were agreeable to the timeline and I was agreeable with the salary. I finished up in Springfield and returned to Chicago in a very happy mood. About 7:00 June called. She asked if I could come over and move some boxes to the basement for her. Jerry was out of town and she was cleaning out the closets. I told her I would be there in about 30 min. I called Ben as I arrived at June's house. I told him to call my cell in 20 minutes. I would explain in the morning.

June greeted me at the front door in tight jogging shorts and a cut off Tee shirt. She led the way to the quest room wiggling her ass all the way. I moved three boxes to the basement. She told me there was another in the master bedroom. When I walked in she was lying on the bed with the shirt raised to just below her breasts and her legs spread enough I could see her shave mound clearly. I scanned the room as she started telling me how Jerry isn't home enough to take care of all her needs. I noticed the camcorder setting next to a flower arrangement on the dresser. It was pointed toward the middle of the bed. I picked up the last box and headed out the door just as my phone went off. I answered it and said would be right in. I apologized to June for having to leave. Springfield was having a problem and I had to use my computer at home to diagnose the trouble. I dropped the last box in the basement for her and left. She seemed more than a little aggravated.

Thursday I thanked Ben. I told him I ran into an old neighbor at Starbucks. If he wouldn't have called me I probably would still be there. He laughed and told me any time. I checked Brenda's email during the day. I deleted the Fidelity confirmations on the trades and the transfer. I verified the deposit at our bank. Janet called to say the PI got video and stills for Tuesday and Wednesday. He overnight shipped to her. If I stopped by Saturday she would have a copy ready for me.

Brenda arrived home about 8:00. She was tired and had a headache from the meetings. She planned on taking a shower and going to bed. I said that was a good idea and I would talk to her in the morning.

Friday, Quinn sent me to Springfield as soon as I came in. He said they had 3 PCs lock up and they needed them ASAP. I loaded up the equipment and left. I stopped at our bank and pick up a cashier's check for $190,000. The sudden frequent trips for minor repairs were starting to make me nervous. I stopped at home and activated the recorders before leaving town. I stopped in Bloomington and opened a checking account and a safety deposit box. I stopped at a new apartment complex on the edge of town and leased a one bedroom apartment. The rest of the trip was uneventful. I was home by 8:00. Brenda was already in bed. She felt sick at work and came home early. I tried to show worry and concern about her health. She told me she just needed sleep. I said I would be up later after I had a drink and ate something.

In the basement I checked the recorders. Quinn came in with Brenda and had sex in our bed. They had to be together most of the afternoon. He was falling for Brenda by the conversation. Quinn left at 4:00 according to the clock in the picture. Marcie and June showed up after work. June told her she almost had me in bed until I received a call and had to leave. Brenda said they would try drugging me and taking the pictures after the reunion. Then she could file for divorce. June and Marcie left and Brenda went upstairs to shower and sleep.

Saturday Marcie picked up Brenda for the spa. I took care of my normal chores before running my errands. I stopped at a storage place and rented a 20 foot space for 2 months. I bought new door locks at the hardware store. On the way home I saw Marcie's car in the Spa parking lot. At least they spent part of the day at the place. At home I worked on my to do list. I called the utility company for the apartment. I scheduled the movers for August. 12th.

Brenda and I went out to dinner and a movie. When we came home she told me she was too tired for sex and was going to sleep. I gave no argument. I kissed her goodnight and went to sleep.

Sunday morning I started our morning love making. She participated but seemed a little sore. The guys must have been a little rough yesterday. I made breakfast, and then washed the cars.

The next two weeks seemed to fly by. I closed our saving account and transferred everything into the checking account.

Saturday Brenda drove the women to the Spa. They actually went there first. When she came home about 4:00 she had bags from the mall. She said she needed a few things for the reunion. We went out to dinner and then home for a night of hot sex. I made breakfast in the morning. Then washed and waxed the cars. We had a light dinner with an ample amount of wine. We spent the rest of the evening engaged in foreplay involving lots of oral stimulation I made sure to leave hickeys on her neck, breasts, and inner thighs. I made sure her orgasms from having her neck to her breasts devoured and her pussy licked and sucked until she pushed me away. I then made slow sweet love to her. She didn't know it was our goodbye fuck.

Monday morning I picked up June and Marcie. We loaded their luggage in Brenda's car and returned home to load Brenda's stuff. I gave Brenda a smoldering open mouth kiss. I told her I loved her and goodbye. I always wonder if she ever got the true meaning.

I went into work and turned in my resignation. I said I would take my remaining vacation effective immediately. When HR asked for a reason I said I couldn't take the excessive travel anymore it was ruining my marriage. I signed all the paperwork, gave them my ID and left. I stopped by Janet's office on the way home. I gave her the leather Journal. I told her I would delete the Sisterhood files from Brenda's computer when I returned home. I signed all the necessary paperwork including a power of attorney to sell the townhouse. We would file the divorce papers on Wednesday and serve them on Thursday. Law suit papers were being served on Quinn Johnson, Frank Robe, Ralph Stone, Duncan Hill, and Zack Campbell for alienation of affection. A messenger service was delivering envelopes containing the photos to the wives of each man. Photos from the Hyatt surveillance would be sent to the husbands of every "Sister" identified. Thursday was going to be a very important day in the history of the Sisterhood.

I went home and checked Brenda's email. I deleted all the files on the Sisterhood and our finances. I went through her desk removing all the files that were mine. I shredded any joint financial papers or credit cards. I made copies of all important documents. I boxed them up for Bloomington and set them by the front door. I spent the evening empting the closets, desks, and dressers separating everything into mine or hers. I took the kitchen items since she never learned to cook. I did give her the barware because she could mix great cocktails.

Tuesday I called and closed all the joint credit cards. I had the representative do an electronic transfer from checking to pay the balance in full. I went to the bank and had cashier's checks issued for Janet Lawson, Acme moving, and half the remaining balance to me. I went home and finished packing. I removed all the surveillance equipment and put it in my car. I changed the door locks, reset the garage door opener and called a realtor to list my townhouse.

I went over to Ben's house that evening. I gave him a copy of the pictures I had of Marcie with the managers. I explained to him how it was their plan since the beginning to use us to help promote their careers and net worth. I had him check his accounts. Marcie was doing the same thing as Brenda. I told him I was divorcing Brenda and he should consider doing the same to Marcie. He said he would consider it and talk to her next week when she returned. I didn't try to contact Jerry. I figured the arrogant ass would get everything he deserved.

Wednesday the movers arrived by 8:00. They moved Brenda's stuff to the storage locker. We secured the locker and returned to the townhouse to load my stuff for Bloomington. I bought lunch for the movers at a truck stop about a mile from the apartment complex. They had my stuff unload by 2:00; I spent the rest of the day unpacking. It took most of the evening to compose and type the letter to Brenda. When I finished, I collected the items I wanted to leave for Brenda tomorrow and placed everything in a big envelope with her name on it and sealed it. I showered, set my alarm for 5:00, and went to bed. Tomorrow was the big day.

The alarm stirred me from the first solid sleep I had in weeks. I dressed and sipped my coffee as I gazed out my living room window as the summer sun peeked over the tree tops. It would be a beautiful, summer day if it didn't have to be the end of my marriage also. I refilled my coffee cup and headed for Champaign.

I drove around the parking lot of the Hyatt until I found Brenda's car. Opening her car, I placed the envelope on the steering wheel and relocked it. I parked a few aisles over and walked into the Hyatt. I picked up a copy of the morning paper from the vending machine and walked to the front counter where I requested an envelope. I placed my set of key to her car in the envelope, sealed it, addressed it to Brenda Davis Room 1102, and gave the envelope to the desk clerk. The restaurant was filling up quickly. I noticed 4 large tables in the rear were being set up probably for the 11th floor group. I picked a small table in a distant corner that had an unobstructed view and ordered breakfast. I scanned the paper as I waited for the entertainment to begin.

The group began drifting in about 10minutes later. Brenda came in holding on to Zack's arm. Marcie, June and a couple of men came in and sat next to them. Eventually the tables filled, orders were placed and the light banter of care free people radiated from the table. While the group began enjoying their meal, I spotted Janet Lawson with about 8 men carrying papers enter and walk toward the table. A man walked over to Brenda and called her name. When she responded he handed her 3 pieces of paper and announced "You have been served." Chaos erupted as the men walked around the table and served papers on the women. Zack was the only man issued papers. After the papers were issued, Janet and the men left the building. The table grew quieter as each person opened the legal document. The second piece of paper they opened was a picture taken of their activity on the 11th floor. Attached was a note explaining that picture and related others were express mailed to the person's spouse yesterday. The mood of the table became grim and some of the women began to sob as the reality of the situation hit them. Brenda was crying openly showing the paper to Marcie. She was the only one given a divorce notice. I glanced over the newspaper as I watched the once cheery group pay their bill and slowly head back to their rooms. I watched as the three women talked for a moment. Brenda went to pay the bill for their group. I saw the cashier shake her head and hand a credit card back to Brenda. With a look of complete defeat, Brenda called Marcie over and whispered something in her ear. Marcie gave Brenda a surprised look as she passed the cashier her credit card. When the women left for their room, I paid my bill and left the building. I drove home with a mixture of sadness and relief. Sadness that I was losing the woman I loved but relieved that the pain it caused was coming to an end.

Three months later I received a letter from Janet requesting I call her office. She had important information to discuss. During my coffee break I called her office. She told me Jeffers insurance wanted to settle the lawsuits of the four senior managers. They offered a sizable payment if the suits were dropped and we signed a confidentiality agreement. The realtor had a firm offer on the townhouse, and Brenda's attorney called. Brenda would agree to the divorce and all our demands if the claim was changed to irreconcilable differences and I would meet with her privately before the signing. I told Janet my anger was gone and to accept everything she told me. I just wanted to get on with my life. I told her to call my cell and tell me when to show up to sign.

She called two days later and asked if I could be in her office on Saturday at 10:00. We would close with the insurance company lawyer. At 1:00 we would meet with Brenda and her attorney.

Saturday I traveled north to Janet's office. I had stopped at the bank on Friday and collected the tapes, photos, and videos from the safety deposit box. I sat and talked to Janet while we waited for the company attorney. She told me that the Sisterhood had voted to expel the 26 women at the Hyatt. The remaining four on the list were privately advised to change their ideas. The attorney arrived and we signed the documents. I asked what happened to the managers. They told me it was an internal situation now and not my problem. He passed Janet the check and left. I told her I would return before 1:00 and left. I called Ben and asked him to meet me at Starbucks.

I bought a latte and sat at Ben's table. I asked how everything was going since I left. He told me it was hell for about two months. He said four senior managers resigned at work. Marcie, June and Brenda resigned and work at different companies. Brenda has been living in their house. He still works for the company. He said Marcie came home from the reunion early and asked him if everything was OK. She said they left when Brenda received divorce papers. I told him I wished them all a good life and I left. I had lunch and returned to Janet's office. I carried in a small box. Janet and I had coffee and talked until Brenda and her attorney arrived. Brenda wanted to talk to me privately before we signed anything. She and I went into the conference room and closed the door. She assumed the divorce filing was over the pictures that were taken with her and Zack. She told me it was a onetime mistake with her and Zack. It was over and would never happen again. If I could forgive her we could go to counseling and become a couple again. We could even start that family I wanted. I just shook my head, and passed the box over to her. I told her everything she had done to me was in that box. I opened the door and invited the attorneys in. The attorneys looked over the papers and passed them to us to sign. When we finished I stood and thanked Janet. I told Brenda I wished the best for her in the future. I drove home with the view of starting a new life.

Janet mailed me the proceeds of the settlement about a week later. She enclosed a note saying the house would close within 30 days. She would mail that shortly after closing. The revised divorce papers were filed with the court and would become final in about 6 months. She would mail all the paperwork then.

Epilogue

I dated a little but I was still cautious so I buried myself in my work. I started working out at the university fitness center where I met a couple of other divorced men. We would go out about once a week for dinner and a couple of drinks.

I received a call from Janet Lawson. She was meeting a couple of friends in Bloomington and invited me to dinner. At the restaurant she introduced me to Karen Wilson and her mother Dorothy Stahl. Both ladies were members of the Sisterhood. Karen was a widow with twin 3 year old daughters. She was six years younger than me. Her husband died in an auto accident 2 years ago. She taught the 4th grade at Jefferson school in Bloomington. Karen and I talked over dinner as the two older ladies chatted between themselves and looked over at us and smiled. By the end of the evening I asked Karen if she would like to go out next Saturday. She accepted and gave me her number and address.

We dated for months, many times bringing the girls with us before she spent the night at my apartment and we made love. After that we tried to spend one night together at least every couple of weeks. As the months went on I fell more in love with Karen and her daughters, Mandy and Molly. They became everything to me. I proposed to Karen on Valentine's Day. She agreed and we were married in June.

One benefit of working for the university, my family can take courses tuition free. Karen took classes in the evening and I watched the girls. In three years she received her master's. We had a small delay when she gave birth to our son Daniel.

The kids are growing every day. We have been married now 5 years. Karen will become the principal of Jefferson school this fall. Sometimes great things come out of bad experiences.

Jerry and June are divorced after catching each other cheating. June went west, I don't know about Jerry.

Ben and Marcie are still married. I will let Brenda explain that one to you in the next chapter.

Zack was divorced shortly after the reunion. Janet settled with Zack's attorney for a small sum after Zack's wife took him to the cleaners. Zack got another sales job in the Midwest. He sees Brenda and Marcie a few times a year.
