I discovered erotic comics in French when I was a student in Paris in the late 80s. I was roaming an erotic art & comix shop in the Latin quarter called "Curiosa". There, I was stunned by the art of Joseph Farrel, Bernard Montorgueil, Philippe Cavell, JH Hopper, Georges Pichard... Unfortunately, they were quite expensive for a poor student. Luckily, a stone throw from there, Boulinier second-hand book shop had a lot of second hand comix, where I discovered the works of Ward and Stanton, Jacobsen (one of my favourites).
Jacques GĂ©ron was born in Belgium in 1950.
In the late 70s, Jacques Géron produced 'Le Fouet! Madame' at Déesse under the pseudonym Elvis Gray. In 1984, he began self-publishing, creating comics like 'S Comme Sang' and 'Miami Beach'. For these works, he took on the pseudonyms of Jack-Henry Hopper or Marlon. Under his several pseudonyms, he made numerous illustrations for the erotic press (Gay Comix, Bédé Adult) and he cooperated on the collection Marquis at Glénat with 'Les Nuits Chaudes de Rangoon'. In 1991 and 1993, Création Art Presse published two of Géron's adult albums: 'Madame' and 'L'HÎtel du Con d'Or'.
Jacques GĂ©ron died in 1993, at the age of forty-three.
Jacques Lemonnier, aka Jacobsen or Jak, was born in France in 1958. He studied fine arts in Le Havre and cooperated on several fanzines and local projects. In 1983, he participated in the collective album 'Le NeuviÚme Cauchemar' for publisher Ludovic Trihan, using the pseudonym Jakez Bihan. From 1985, his work appeared in magazines like Censuré and Fluide Glacial. He worked with scriptwriter Jacques Lerouge on 'Harrison Pigeot', and under the pseudonym Jacobsen, he produced various erotic albums in a 1960s American underground style between 1987 and 2002 (a.o. 'La Grenouille', ' Mathilde et Gilda', 'Le Loup et l'Agnelle' and 'Céline').
