Agreed. Unless you got a very strangely formatted book (image overlapping text, D&D books are particularly egregious of this), or something that has to be exact for printing, then i consider epub to generally be superior, not only in compressibility and modification, but word wrapping as an option.

I tried one of the first generation of ebook readers back in 2010 and quickly found pdf's were useless because you'd have to zoom in and move the screen all over the place trying to read something; Vs automatic word wrapping automatically used as html or other more flexibly structured formats. As such i tended to format (at the time) stuff to RTF and tell it the page format was A4, and it worked pretty darn well.

Same. I used to love PDF's in the past. For very long kept preferring that actually. But once I downloaded calibre on someone's suggestion and read an ePub for the first some, reading on PDF seems a nuisance. In addition to font sizing changing for our desired scroll mode, there is one more very big advantage. When we stop reading and close down the ebook of epub, it saves the location we were on. So that next time when we open it, it automatically takes us to that specific page. While in PDF, we need to remember or record somewhere on which page we left. So many of the past time stories I don't even know if I ever finished. Because when I start reading it, I feel that I've read that already. Though I'm not sure if I ever finished it.

Yes, please. Epub is better, My Epub reader remembers the current page, and it has a dark mode. Converting often leaves the PDF's page numbers or header and footers.
