Thank you, For the most part I like anthologies best.
If the series is 'complete' i might combine them into a single file. Some slight duplication but like when i was reading manga on my tablet, having to select the 'next' one quickly was becoming annoying, while merging 10-20 at a time made the annoyances of remembering which block i was on less annoying.
But one thing about this author that as I try and understand his story-lines that I find annoying/confusing - The first story in the book is the one he gives you a preview of before you read it?!?
Several authors do this. Some even include 'sneak peeks' into other of their books between chapters. I agree it's annoying, and in my OCR work i've been ripping it out as i don't think it's relevant or useful, rather than trying to be 100% faithful to the source.
Why?
Why not instead of a preview of what you are about to read, and recap of the last book...?
Not sure. It's like anime i suppose; The first episode has to throw you in the thick of things so you know what to expect, rather than having a slow start for 1-2 episodes.
Slayers for example first episode uses a Dragon Slay (
strongest fireball spell), but then she only uses it like 4 more times in the first few seasons.
One Punch Man a huge big evil has to be defeated that would destroy cities, before it falls back to smaller lower grade heroes saving kittens and down-to-earth threats.
My Hero Academia has to show you what the BIG BEEFY HERO on par and based on Captain America is and can be and the threats of the city, before he deflates to a thin gamer guy who looks like he doesn't eat enough and drinks too many energy drinks binge watching League of Legends games, and most of the series is based on him going to basically high-school for heroes.
Meaning to say, it works in anime to get you interested and hooked. But a page of what is just a page later in a 30-40 page book isn't that thrilling, and without visuals... well... yeah... Like having a newbie DM in a D&D game throwing you into a game. 'You're in a forest... and there's guys...' the setup for the forest and 'guys' are all out of whack, and doesn't instill anything.
Yeah a recap of the last book(s) would be preferred...
