[Kenny Wright] Hotwife/Cuckold

I presently have over 4.1K books in my Calibre library and don't notice any lag.

I've got a solid state HD and my PC is an Alienware gaming rig, so I've got a fast computer, so that might play a role.

Where does the lag manifest?
Longer times waking up, searching, transitioning files when updating meta-data.
I've got 4.3k books in Smut alone. The one that brought my attention to it the most is the 62k TPB bestseller book collections I downloaded over the years. That I foolishly loaded all together thinking the search results would be easier - Nope too much metadata missing, and severe lag while trying to update them

I was going to respond saying I don't experience any lag either ... then realized I have "only" about 2.5K books, so probably not enough to have the issues you are running into.

BTW, I think it would be useful to have a thread that collects this kind of "technical" discussion. I think we've had various discussions about Calibre, website formatting, conversion, etc. scattered across different author threads. Having a single thread might help someone who has similar issues/questions or wants to ask.

Smashwords has the option for the author to specify "you set the price", so that's an easy way for you to do your donations plan.

Smashwords has two other advantages over Amazon.

First, if the author revises the book you can download the new version. With Amazon, you're stuck with the version you originally purchased. Now this makes sense with printed versions, since there is cost associated with printing the second, third, etc. editions, but digital? It actually probably costs Amazon more to keep track of the version any individual purchased and maintain that copy on their servers, than to simply keep one version of any given book and let anyone who purchased it download it/read it.

The second thing is that if you read deep into the ELUA for Amazon, technically you are renting the book, you don't own it. So should they get cranky with you at some future date, they can remove any given book from your library.

That's one reason I download everything, and put it in my Calibre library.

Similar thoughts here, but also, Kindle is just not as feature-rich as Calibre. AFAIK you can't just add your own arbitrary tags, cutomize metadata to your heart's content, filter, sort, make edits to books if a typo bothers you; the list goes on.

Well, another reason I use Calibre, is that I have an iPad, and when I first got it, I decided I was going to use a single reading app for all my books. I didn't want to have to open multiple different apps to find a particular book.

I picked the apple book app, so I use Calibre to convert everything to epub.

I think the moderators would prefer such a thread be in the "Off Topic" sub forum. I started a thread about Zoboko in this subforum and it got moved there.

I'm so not used to checking the other forums!
It never even crosses my mind, and then the other day - I just happened to (on a whim) check the request forum and saw one of my requests had been answered there. I so expected, and had previously experienced, those responses to appear in the fiction forum as new author thread with the material included. Now I'm working my way through all 13 pages of the requests to see if I missed anything interesting...

Does anyone have the EPUB version of In Too Deep? Kobo requires credit card details for the free trial. It seems like his most ambitious work in recent years—I’ve been waiting for it for months!
