Mask 2 is really old, they just repackaged it and sold it as new. I sadly lost my old drive where I had his whole collection up to 2015 or so, but it has been around for a long time.

What software are you using?
PDF24 has an "extract PDF images" option that allows to get the .jpg images without converting them. (not "PDF to Images", that one is lossy).You can use it online by clicking "PDF24 Tools"

I don't know if it can also losslessly transform a set of images into a pdf file, but it probably can. I use archival formats like .cbz rather than pdf for images, but pdf is similar in that it should not transform (with quality loss) images, just put them as is in an archive).

Then the only thing left would then be, when translating, to save the changes into lossless images formats like png and not lossy ones like jpg, so that there is no compounding loss of quality at each step.
