At least one of these stories (My Life as a Shop Mannequin) is stolen from Fictionmania, so I think it's safe to assume that the rest are, too.

Does that mean Steven Bee is not the original author? I know stuff posted on here is technically free as we share but yes now and again I have seen people say the books weren't original works and ended up being someone's work from literotica or fictionmania

You seem to have a very peculiar way of approaching anything new. Just because you think one of the books was plagiarized from another author doesn’t mean all the others were too. And how do you know Fictionmania didn’t plagiarize Steven Bee? In any case, I’m going to read all the books first before forming an opinion.

To be honest I don't worry about whether books were ripped off before we get them or share them as the end result is us getting to read them....free! But I don't mind hearing knowledge about the books or authors as I get to learn something new either way although I am curious whether the fictionmania version (allegedly) is an exact copy or not but I am not curious enough to go check... just wondering šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø I do think if it was ripped off then someone thought it was good enough to copy or recreate so I will have a read later

That's the right way to go about it. That's exactly what I do.

That's quite a judgemental approach by yourself (not that I'm particularly bothered by it).

I don't think the mannequin story was plagiarised, I'm certain of it: the original was posted by Tanya Jane Richards on FM in 2003; Steven Bee's version didn't appear on Amazon until quite recently (and that 'author' seems to have mysteriously vanished now). I'd say that makes the concept of the FM version being the copy pretty unlikely. I'd also be surprised to find that someone who stole one story would write the remainder of their output themselves. There's a huge amount of stuff on Amazon that's stolen material; they don't seem to be too interested in doing much about it.

I wasn't intending to start any kind of argument here, I was simply making an observation.

We can all have different opinions for a particular matter, and we can actually all be correct. Let me share with you my opinion regarding this discussion.

I actually do care if an author is plagiarist. But the reason is different from morality or such. It makes my sorting of my material more challenging. I have thousands of stories here in my collection, and every once in a while I check out one new author. Based on the type/quality of that author I assess what kind of other stories that author would have written. Sometimes I check a second story of the author too if the first one wasn't precisely clear. But I never check out the third. And generally this method works pretty good in my evaluation of a particular set of books (based on the author), except in case of a plagiarist author.

Problem with the plagiarist author is that, while they sometimes pick one or two very good stories from somewhere, once they realize how easy it is to bypass the plagiarism check of Amazon, they begin collecting random stuff as well. Also, they begin collecting stories not matching the type of genre as of the other books. Thus, the mix they present to us is way too random, and it just becomes too hard for us to search out what works for us and what doesn't, and sort between well written and pathetic works.

In some rare cases though, plagiarists for us pirates can actually be sort of good, as they actually do the hard work for us to present us with some very good stories that were posted at a random place by a random author, and well... they are still free to us. So not bad at all. ;) Just that if I know if the author is plagiarist, I can approach his collection differently as compared to an original author.

That's true although I hadn't thought of it that way before! I will keep it in mind though for next time I think I know an author's type of work if I then see really different types (unusual) then like you say very suspect so thanks for sharing that.
