I'm wondering if the "village chief" is actually Yumiko's company's CEO; Nini has mentioned to me that he is an important player in the conclusion, but gave no clue as to his real-world identity. If he is the "Company's" man in charge ... I wonder if he's aware of the goings-on by his development team, or if he's instrumental in pushing it forward? Is he a benevolent guy ... or just our typical, run-of-the-mill billionaire sociopath? Maybe he knows Elon?
At this point, a software that could achieve what's apparently happening to Yumiko, could easily be used for nefarious purposes. Torture, anyone ...?
