You got me confused.I agree with many of @adamblack144’s points.
TA is an engaging story, and for the most part, it’s well done and balanced. I like DS's writing.
My main issue is that DS tends to walk back plot developments, which, while simplifying the narrative, also limits its potential. Pushing the envelope is riskier, but it’s more rewarding than staying in a safe, repetitive loop.
Even if he's not pushing the envelope, the level of repetition is a bit too much. Repeating almost the exact same car scene so many times is just too much.
Also, I think Sarah's vulnerability to Lester adds more depth. If Lester is not just a figure in her life but has control over her sexuality - being the only one she sleeps with, or deciding whom she sleeps with - that creates more tension and danger. A wife developing an emotional attachment to someone makes them a real threat. If she just sleeps with anyone, they are nothing more than dildos.
But of course, in erotica, there are many tastes. Some readers enjoy the tease, with hints of sex but no explicit scenes. Some prefer the wife to be a freeuse slut, some like her to develop feelings for the lover, some like it if she leaves the husband, etc. I think DS is trying to satisfy as many people as possible with one story.
There's no real contradiction; it can be both. It's an enjoyable story with strong foundations, solid characters, and hot sex - marred by some unnecessary repetitiveness and cycling in recent chapters. The story is still progressing somewhat despite all the cycling. All DS needs to do is cut out the repetitiveness and make the story move along at a better clip, and it'll be good again...You got me confused.
You say it's an engaging story, it's well done and balanced.
Then you list all the reasons some readers complain about the development of the last 10 or more chapters.
DS transformed a really innovative and good story into a common and boring one, like thousends around.
In the beggining there were a lot of interaction among the characters with their inner desires guiding their actions.
There was a constinuous build up tension.
Now it's just a jerk off story.
Of course, there are people who will like the story the way it is.
I understand and respect that.
I think that who complains about the path TA is going, it's the loss of a good chance to read a good erotic novel instead of just another simple porn story with repetitive situations. No matter how many chapters it has.
I've been one of the paying subscribers.
For those who enjoy it the way it is, be happy!
Well, I respect your opinion but I disagree. There's no real contradiction; it can be both. It's an enjoyable story with strong foundations, solid characters, and hot sex - marred by some unnecessary repetitiveness and cycling in recent chapters. The story is still progressing somewhat despite all the cycling. All DS needs to do is cut out the repetitiveness and make the story move along at a better clip, and it'll be good again...
Don't worry. He's just expressing his anger at those who have different opinions.Whoa, let's bring the temperature down. It's ok to have different opinions.
Well, I respect your opinion but I disagree.
There are 23 chapters. DS is just milking his cheerleaders.
The original story, with its solid foundatios, solid characters and hit sex, is gone.
This story could have been told in ten chapters.
And then, DS could have started another story with all the repetitive scenes he and his cheerleaders like so much.
Or is he a one hit wonder author?
As I said, I respect yours and others opinions.Personally, I'd be happy if the story continued for another 100 chapters, as long as DS avoids repetition and keeps things fresh. There's no rush for it to end - other authors, like Pete Andrews/xleglover with his 1-million-word Jen/Mike saga (which had several "resets"), have successfully pulled off massive epics.
Yes, you could argue DS is "milking his cheerleaders," but that's not too different from "trying to keep a large fanbase happy." It doesn't seem like he's trying to do it cynically or maliciously - he's just trying to solve a difficult problem.
It's clear from the comments here that readers want very different things from the story, and it's impossible to please everyone. Hopefully, DS can maintain the story's core strengths while cutting out the repetition.
