Especially when someone is posting free eBooks, and the eBooks belong to a specific author for which a thread already exists. The moderators would end up merging the posts anyway.

As long as it's applicable after it's gone dormant i don't think it matters how old the thread is.

But waking the post to 'bump' it or something similarly pointless i'd think annoys people and moderators; As the entire forum is less on discussion topics, and far more on releases and content; Or at least that's how it seems to me so far.

I know it annoys me, especially when the bump is one of the individual's first posts.
I speaks to a lack of character. They join the community but cannot be bothered to read the rules.
When I see a post with something new - I look forward to seeing something new - not some newbie saying
"Please Sir, Can I have some more?"
