Coq Bio:
Luis Garcia Gallo
8.6.1907 - 21.9.2001 ( Spain )
Luis Garcia Gallo, who published under the name Coq, worked most of his career for two French magazines: the journal Paris-Presse and the weekly Jours de France. For these magazines he created humoristic drawings and comics. He had his biggest success in the early 1950s with the silent comic 'Mam'zelle Souris' in France-Soir. This series knew a good diffusion through the Intermonde Presse agency.
In the 1960s he created the series 'Nanette' for Jours de France, a magazine for which he also redrew his 'Mam'zelle Souris' strips. Coq worked with René Goscinny for a long time on series like 'La Fée Aveline', 'Yvette' and, most notably, 'Docteur Gaudéamus', which ran from 1960 to 1973. Coq drew for the press until the mid-1980s
(Coq - "Cock", the male Chicken as well as "Dick" or "Prick" makes perfect Sense as Pseudonym imO)
