I assume in some stories a grainy overlay was added to add to the general feel. The grain can also be added to get rid of some pesky artifacts, without the need to spend hours finding annd removing them.

People use the word "hack" in incredibly imprecise and inappropriate ways. Maybe what Ryan meant by "hacking" was just... "figuring out how to consult publicly-available but semi-obscure databases." Which is more than 99% of the population is able to do, so they feel justified in considering themselves "hackers".

Also, the doctor could have told a lie about the test results, we did not see the documents.
If what I think happened at the end of the part is really interesting.

I suppose it could be... in a traditional comic, with multiple panels per page. This is 21 panels, so averaging 4.2 panels per page, which is pretty much standard.it can be wrote in 5 pages I think.
1 - talk about wee wee and that Sara leaves
2 - meet Clint
3 - notice that he turned her on
4 - unpack gift
5 - find toys
Oh, you meant 5 panels? Yeah, I suppose it's also possible, but those panels would be horribly crowded with dialogue.
Or you could move all that dialogue outside the panel frame, but then it's not a comic anymore, it's an illustrated prose story.
