[District13/Niniのスタジオ] Her Work

I was thinking the exact same thing when I looked at the scene ... I'm like ... hmmm  ... a self portrait ? ... or maybe a selfie, perhaps?
It's kind of obvious that Nini's pressed for time, these days. One can only imagine what must be going through her mind ...

Shit ... my PC crashed as I was downloading ... technology is great when it works properly ... 🥱
Anyway, a new story, "Flipside" was added to canon. New character, Shizuko, who appeared in Kokomi's Confused Diary ... the "Brother Challenge" scene.

She is working away on Vision V10. No rush as we want it done right! As a heads up ... Nini is using Ai now. Still, it shouldn't affect the story telling though,
but it is a little jarring to watch at first time around! No updates on either Twitter or Pixiv at the moment.
Let's go update
Ah so this case gonna be investigated in the undercover series so this is kinda a prequel
Damn another sexy NCU milf .

I was actually surprised Nini chose to release a different story, Flipside, instead of Undercover ... but over the years, she has announced many series that just evaporated instead of getting the full treatment. Remember, she's hinted at a remake of Incense too ... (?) Having been around her for a while, I've come to realize that she's a woman with a very creative mind, that branches out into many different directions at the same time. Some ideas flourish, while others may languish on the back-burners for a couple of years, or more. She's a very creative person ... we're just along for the ride. Hold onto your britches ... always a bumpy ride!
About the NCU ... she has moved Flipside into the fold. Who knows who might show up next?

It seems like she is using AI for BRoll...hopefully it stays that way. I have mainly used it for transitioning a scene and some small parts, but AI is like a drug...all of a sudden people want to use it for everything and next thing you know we are getting some Doberman level full AI videos.

I personally do not like the look or feel of what AI does to models....but to each their own. Many of the VaM artist are using AI more and more so I guess she needs to follow suit.

We've all been experimenting with AI since it's the latest thing, but in my opinion, it's out of the question for creating voices for dialogues; they're terrifying because they lack the timing and the feelings you're trying to express about the character.

Regarding filling in VAM's shortcomings, I think it's acceptable that Nini uses them. VAM has several weaknesses when it comes to creating complex scenes; she gave the example of turning a leaf over, something that might be possible in VAM but takes forever. :cautious:

Welcome to the AI era, my friends. Let's just hope it's used wisely by the content creators we admire so much. :coffee::giggle:

My beautiful Mai Shiranui agrees, right, darling? 😘🥰😍

I would disagree on voices for dialogues. IMO AI does this better significantly better than using it to actually try to animate. I have been using ElevenLabs to voice my videos and while it is not on the level of a full Voice Artist, its about 90% there which says a lot as my videos are not 5-10 minute shorts, they are on average 1 hour+ long and I am very picky about AI voices in my videos.

Well this is where you need to call it what it is. It is not a VaM shortcoming. It is a Nini shortcoming. Its an "artist" shortcoming. I've seen people do some pretty cool stuff on all platforms because of their focus on increasing their own animation skill vs depending on their being an easy button for you. If I can animate something like picking up a leaf and turning it around in TK17 not sure why one wouldn't be able to do that in VaM. Sure maybe folks don't want to spend the time to do it. Which is fair, but lets not kid ourselves...AI is simply the thing that people use because they do not want to put the additional effort in. In the end it is a matter of what the right balance is.

The Ai used in the video was mostly used as an enhancement tool for the most part; exteriors and environments. Some the the character motions were "smoothed-out", but overall ( after a cup of coffee ), the entire affair seemed fairly straight forward. I'm glad to see it was used sparingly and wasn't turned into one of the usual mind-numbing Ai videos, most of us are used to. The story is pretty solid, and of course, this first episode is the "set-up", so no sex of course, but if Shizuko is on the menu,
it looks like we're all in for a lot of fun in the following episodes!

Your right...she used it as filler and transition. Basically something to look at while she did the exposition. There was one part she used it where I was like..."nah should of just cut that" but I liked the balance for the most part. Knowing some of her earlier work, I think she could have used those "AI" moments to do a lot more. Maybe a little bit more fan service on the model. I get the whole talking over sceneries maybe gives a cinematic feel but I think it gets over done too often.

Eventually, I think Ai vocals will improve ... but English vocals in her work ... NO. I would rather she use a nice Japanese male or female for the exposition. She IS Japanese afterall, so vocals with subs would work better, IMHO ... it's just a matter of finding the correct "vocal presence". Given time, it will probably improve.

Well yeah I cannot say anything for vocals that are not English. Usually once the English parts starts to hit that acceptance level other languages and dialects follow. Even for English it took a while to get the sound right for an African American female...which is why I only started using it again full time in my latest series.

I will be away from home for a week+, on a much needed break to the Pacific Coast. Looking forward to it. I'll still be in touch with you guys via my laptop. I've locked and loaded the links for the new Flipside V1 release into MediaFire, so we should be ready to post here on either Thursday the 28th, or Friday the 29th. Since this is Nini's first release using Ai, I've decided to release the episode without any "fan-editing", so you all can see it, as it was intended by Nini ... judge it completely on it's own merits ... then the discussions can commence.
My own feeling is, is that it's a first attempt ... it's feels somewhat different ... but on repeated viewings, it's a solid work of hers, and it still has her imprint.
Well, in 6 hours (including packing and driving) I will hopefully have my feet propped up, looking at the Blue Pacific ... beer in hand ... 🍺

I can't believe I didn't post the above message earlier this morning....! Anyway, I'm in Laguna and ALL is well. Everything looks fine on my end , so as long as the internet ... and my excessive drinking, don't impair things, we're still on for posting things on time next week.
PS. Who knew the ocean was so damn noisy? 🥱

From that series, Nini started using AI for video illustrations. I felt the visuals were inconsistent with the way AI creates videos, like they were filled with AI instead of text like I was used to, and it felt very different from her previous series. Usually, Nini makes simple illustrations, but they portray the situation perfectly. It also feels like a puzzle, as if we need to use our imagination and read the text to grasp the details and the story transition puzzle through the illustrations, which I found in the Incense series and you can also see in the Vision series. But on the other hand, AI can't do that, and it's very different from the Nini style I was used to. This is my opinion, but maybe some people prefer this AI style, and it's more trendy this year and the next few years, but for me, I prefer Nini's previous style

I thought it was funny seeing the cars slipping on the road. It wasn’t really something I was supposed to be paying attention to, but there they were, skidding around in the middle of traffic. It didn’t exactly bother me, but it definitely distracted me for a second lol.

You noticed that too, did you? Like I said earlier, this is the first time out for Nini using the tool ... I've already DM'd her to let her know what I thought were the good Vs bad aspects of using Ai. Anyone who's ever tried out Ai enhanced videos, knows that it's a mixed-bag at best. Used properly (in theory), it can enhance already completed images ... but it can also ruin work, too. She's faced a certain amount of criticism on Patreon already from subs ... let's see what happens.
Also, let's avoid going into detailed descriptions and criticisms regarding Flipside until after we post the video here next week; keep in mind that other Group members have yet to see it, since we still abide by the two-week delay in posting new works, as per our agreement with Nini.
Be mindful of others, please ... then let the discussions begin!

Here we have the final episode of Five Color Rangers, which started back in October of 2023!! The story was delayed, and the ending altered significantly due to the same reasons Adoptive Mother has been delayed ... complaints due to the male protagonist's stature, or relation with the female lead. Take your pick. Nini's original intent was for Yellow Ranger's son to be the Evil Emperor, but it had to shelved and replaced with the newer conclusion. Personally, I liked the original concept, which I thought could be easily adjusted for ... but, it is, what it is ... no Evil Emperor anywhere to be seen, just the Pervy Freak, accompanied by Brother Penis (formerly, the White Ranger).
Regardless ... it's Nini's show, so lets "get-on-with-it !!"
