For comics that are quite action-oriented, not so much based on a strong build-up. However, such approach can weaken stories in terms of being beliavable.
Those stories require tricks to add action without necesssarily depriving the story of some of its plausibility.
A list of those tricks:
1) Memories
A key thing about memories is that they are selective. That means characters can remember different things and in different manners. That allows you to add new scenes. For example, a female character can remember more about slow touches, slow tension rising... whereas a male character can focus more on remmbering her body parts, her clothing.
So, both can go back to their first time together with different imagery.
2) Fantasies
Much like memories they can be done differently. A guy can daydream about something; the woman can daydream about something else.
3) Teasing with food and words with double meaning and dancing and other ways
How many times have you had characters teasing with eating strawberries or slowly licking bananas or sipping and sticking the tongue out to a glass of wine?? What about ice cream?
How many times have you had dancing in your comics? How about some twerking?? Never a twerking contest?? How about singing some sexually explicit songs???
How many female characters enjoy telling dirty sexually explicit jokes??
How many times has a female character made suggestive comments when putting on knee pads while about to go to some sport activity? Knee pads in your stories???
