Damn, sometimes I forget how much junk Nikkii’s got in the trunk lol.

This is a very revealing chapter. I think it's the first time Nikkii clearly states that she is no longer the man she used to be. Accepting the loss of her male identity is a huge step forward for her. It's really the only way she can accept her new body and personality and stop suffering because of the constant conflict between who she was and who she is becoming.

What I didn't see coming was her fierce rejection of Hutchinson's plan. I thought she had, at least to some extent, accepted her fate in the short term. But this actually makes more sense. That level of submission was never going to be sustainable for her. It's not who she was, nor who she is becoming.

I see her rejection of becoming "Nikkii" not as a rejection of her womanhood, but of the specific idea of womanhood that they are trying to impose on her. A submissive wife is not the woman Nikkii is going to grow into.

Likewise, I see her rejection of being Zack's girlfriend less as a rejection of the idea of dating Zack and more as a rejection of Hutchinson's definition of what a girlfriend should be. While the outside world sees them as boyfriend and girlfriend, the reality is that they aren't really a couple yet. The potential is there, the attraction is mutual, and they already care about each other, but we still haven't seen them behave like a true couple.

Notice that when Nikkii hears Zack call her "Nicole," she doesn't seem particularly bothered. In contrast, when Davis does it, she completely loses it. She can't stand the feminine and submissive identity they're trying to craft for her. What she rejects is not the idea of being a woman itself, but the role they're forcing her into.

That's my take, haha.
