I just caught up with the series, and I really like where Half Sisters is going.
Sandy and Nikki breaking Nikki’s chastity device probably means Nikki will have some kind of sexual activity during her time in college, though probably not in the way she expects lol. That device represented her sexual repression in both a literal and metaphorical sense, so symbolically, that scene carries a lot of weight.
On the other hand, watching Nikki get her female ego bruised was hilarious, and it also proves that she has changed in more ways than she probably realizes. Nikki clearly expected the popular girls to show some kind of interest in her, so their complete lack of interest caught her by surprise. I think she has reached a point where she genuinely sees herself as someone who could belong in that world, or at least believes that other people should see her that way too. The fact that she is so offended when they don't seems like a pretty big indication of how much her self-image has changed.
It also makes me wonder about her choice of clothes now. Is Nikki really comfortable wearing more revealing outfits, or is there something deeper going on there? Maybe her date with Zack made something click inside of her. She could be subconsciously trying to prove to the world -and perhaps to Zack specifically- that there is a woman there now, and not just the scared little tomboy she used to be. Almost like she needs to demonstrate, even to herself, that she has grown into someone who can be desired and seen as feminine.
Another interesting tension is the contrast between Sandy embracing her transness and Nikki still wanting to hide hers. Sandy seems increasingly comfortable with being open about who she is, while Nikki is still very much in the “nobody can know” stage, which makes their dynamic pretty fascinating. And honestly, perhaps Nikki already gave herself away with that shot lol.
