So, Iām not part of the MM writing team, butā¦ Chapter 1:
Cassie was very excited about going to the prom with Alex. Unfortunately, Alex was singled out by Brad (Cassieās brother) and sexually assaultedā¦ Meanwhile, Cassie was hoping to see Alex, but he wasnāt there. She was deeply disappointed. Thatās when Professor Teddy (or assistant ^^) appeared and offered to walk the young woman home.
Cassie and Teddy already have some history, following her failed attempt to join the cheerleading squad. Teddy takes advantage of the opportunity to get closer to Cassie and kisses herā¦ Cassie runs away, but somehow, Teddy manages to reassure her.
Back at Cassieās houseā¦ The scene shown in the final pages of Chapter 1 clearly takes place in Cassieās bedroomā¦ The walls are pink, as can be seen in some pages of Chapter 1. In one shot, we can clearly see that Cassieās lover has brown hair, just like Teddy.
During that evening, I think Cassie had unprotected sex with Teddyā¦ Cassie is emotionally fragile, and her letter to Alex at the end of Chapter 1 proves it.
Iām sure that both Cassie and Alex came up with excuses for why they were absent from the prom, in order to escape reality and the shame.
When Cassie discovers that she is pregnant, itās a disasterā¦ Thereās no doubt that she must have had an abortion. Itās an extremely sensitive subject in the USA, where our story takes place. But ironically, by the very end of the chapter, Cassie doesnāt seem to care at all about having had unprotected sex. She is finally free from her old troublesā¦ Thatās what she conveys in her letter to Alex at the very end.
PS : Cassie most likely lied when she said that her parents were at home.
