[Six Pack Site / Joe Six-Pack / Sick Puppy Press] Comics

Yes, a new book! This tells the story of three young men who have been set up to take the fall for stealing the royal jewels. But they devise a plan to cash the jewels in after they wait in hiding. Unfortunately, fate has a far more feminine plan in mind for them. One goes to a compound in the desert, one is a bodyguard for a spoiled California girl and the third is in Bangkok and getting into even more trouble.

This story is by Cassie Stewart, which is a non de plume for an author you've probably read before.

It's $7.95 for 108 pages with 21 illustrations by Joe Six-Pack. It's fulfilled by lulu.com. Ordering links are available at sixpacksite.com along with a free 20-page preview.

Honestly I have no idea how Joe keeps fumbling the ball like this.

One of the three storylines follows a guy being imprisoned by a group of Arabs that orchestrate his transformation. Trouble is, all the illustrations show the guy wearing a fully body Muslim abaya robe. We never see a single image of the changes described as happening to him. Literally six illustrations of him wearing the robe you see on the cover. The only body features you can see are his eyes, which wow, the eyelashes grow longer.

The other storylines at least show a few progress images of the changes but still pretty disappointing. The guys become passable the moment they put on a wig and makeup.

Sadly I haven't enjoyed anything Joe has put out in years, but i'm obviously still grateful to those who still buy and share them. I used to always be excited to read a new one and paid for them every time, then the quality just got worse and worse - I think Candlewick were the last ones I mostly enjoyed. Now I just read them out of a kind of morbid curiosity to see how bad they are.

The stories used to focus pretty well on the transformation and the emotions of its protagonists as it happened in a way that felt interesting to explore, backed with illustrations that brought the story to life. They were never amazingly written or anything, but usually had a decent setup and a compelling arc from start to finish.

His stuff from the last couple of years just feels so low effort though, the characters are written so badly with laughable dialogue, and he just keeps relying on bizarre macguffin type plots that end up distracting from the actual transformation - which now feels like an afterthought and usually is incredibly rushed or has zero payoff. All the releases are riddled with typos though and don't feel like they've been proofread at all. The illustrations now often barely relate to what's described in the text and don't really highlight the process of the transformation.

I know he probably just wants to crank them out to try and bring more money in, but even just one or two releases a year that felt like they had an ounce of effort put in would be preferable to the slop he churns out these days - I can't tell if he's just lost his touch or doesn't care anymore.

I get egerrchihre coming from but he has released quite a few good books the last few years... Hes just never consistent anymore. Every good book is followed by a couple really bad ones..

The typos are also getting out of control the latest one is full of them.so I'm curious when he always says he's working on them... What is working on when t you get typos the the first paragraph lol

The new story is good and has a good plot and the transformations are unique and detailed enough to be a good read but the art does absolutely nothing with it
