Ali asked me how many Os I’d had, and I realized that I’d lost count. I glanced over at Janet and she had this big ass grin on her face. Yeah, OK, ya got me. Being the party favor had been a blast. Not that I’d be volunteering again any time soon.
Janet went over to Lucas, leaned down and whispered something to him. They both looked back at me with mischief in their eyes. Uh oh...

...and by now I should know what Janet says that I should run the other way. But somehow she always figures out how to put her thumb right on my fomo button. So I volunteered to be the party favor.
I kinda thought I knew what I was in for, but I wasn’t prepared for how... elaborate Karl’s setup was going to be. When the last link snapped into place and I pulled on those chains I kinda freaked. I was way more exposed and helpless than I’d thought I’d be!
I realized I absolutely could not go through with it. I tried to say something, but the gag was already in my mouth and it just came out as throat noises and drool. I looked at Janet, begging her with my eyes, and I knew she understood what I was asking, but she smiled at me, turned to Karl and the others and said “She wants to know what you’re all waiting for.”
