Elke's Education
Elke Bauer, a twenty-two-year-old administrative assistant had been working for a few months in the Stasi head office in Berlin, when she received an instruction to report to the office of Lieutenant General Wolf. Wolf had taken a fancy to the pretty young woman and requested she become his personal assistant. It soon became clear that the senior officer's motive for this move were far from professional when he attempted to physically molest Elke in his office. Shocked, Elke managed to fend him off and fled from the office. The following day she wrote a letter of complaint describing the incident and sent it via internal mail to the head of administration. The letter soon found its way to Wolf's desk. Enfuriated by both Elke's unwillingness to submit to his advances and also by her follow accusatory letter, the senior Stasi official fabricated sufficient criminal activities committed by Elke to support her arrest.
Wolf decided that Elke was a perfect candidate for justice by the quasi-military group led by his protege, Colonel Greta Meyer and so she was delivered into her custody.
In order to convey the appearance at least, of formality and protocol, the clandestine group's procedure calls for a short sham court process where 'evidence' is considered before an appropriate sentence is decided. This usually takes place in an old, unoccupied manor house now commandeered by Meyer's group.
