"You want to end your pain? You want us to leave you alone? Well, it's such easy! Just sign this paper and tell us the names of the conspirators!"
The sharp voice of one of her masked torturers echoed through the cold and uncomfortable room.
Rosaleen had no idea what the stranger was speaking about. She had heard the rumors about a conspiration against the regime and a possible revolution. Even she was not really a fan of the dictator and his henchmen, she never had been a member of the opposition. And certainly she had any knowledge about what was going on in secret.
The other man operated the switch of the generator once more for a few seconds. Rosaleen cried out in agony when a new shockwave of pain ran through her body. Maybe if she had some useful information she would have given it to the torturers just to end the pain, but she neither knew any people being part of this conspiration nor any knowledge what was planned. Maybe she should have signed the confession without giving any name, but she had a bad premonition, how the end of her pain would look like if she does it.
Annother surge of electricity made her body twitch wildly and uncontrollably and she cried in agony, when suddenly the door to the interrogation room was slammed open. A soldier rushed into the room - stumbling, breathless.
"Quick, you must come to the commander! The headquarter is under attack .... artillery and machine guns .... they stormed the outer wall!" he tilted forward and fell to the floor. Blood ran out of a big wound in his back.
