[Various Authors] Awesome stories from excellent authors

Sounds like my backup of it is more anemic than i thought it was. I recall i had to get some inner directories to duplicate and work my way down because there was just too much to get. (I've had HTTRack barf at over 100k files before on FurAffinity).

Now i'm disappointed. Partly in myself.
don't feel bad, it was probably gone before you got to it.

There were two other stories from AsianAficionado

I'm not sure why, but I can't open these. Is there some trick to it? Once downloaded, I get error messages. Can anyone suggest a solution?
Thanks!

They are just epubs. Should open fine. I opened in Calibre and checked. (complains about generic font family but otherwise fine).

If you are new to this, either you can download Calibre (or preferred ebook reader), or if you really don't want to do that, you can extract the file as a zip file into a folder and read on your web browser (not optimal but will work, as they are mostly html files).

An alternative is Sumatra PDF if you're not going to use Calibre to organize your ebook files, although I'd strongly recommend doing so.

Sumatra PDF will open PDF, eBook (epub, mobi), comic book (cbz/cbr), DjVu, XPS, and CHM files.

Smashwords is having it's end of year sale through January 1st. Plenty of free books.

One thing to note. If you've taken advantage of this sale before, many of the same books are up for free.

Also, it can be worthwhile to browse the 75% off category, since there are still books there that are free.

anyone with KU able to download Just Plain Bob's "The Biggest She's Ever Had" and compare it to his story Kathy's Dancer to see if it is a mildly revised copy or expanded edition?

Some books advertise word count and they're easy to compare while others do pages. The StoriesOnline version is only 6,491 words.
I don't have that book, but I checked what I have from him and found Filthy Steps With My? that Amazon lists as 43 pages.

Generally speaking, his books are on 2/3's of the story and the other 1/3 is samples and adds. I assume the page count provided on Amazon includes the pages of filler.

So, if you look at the word count for just the story, it comes in at 11.1K words.

Assuming that's representative, it's unlikely a 6.4K story would fill 41 pages. So either he's got a lot more padding than typical, or has extended the story.

That being said, the portion available in the preview appears to be 100% the same as the Storiesonline version.

I used to estimate 2000 bytes was about a page, but a number of these books are half that. So 1000 bytes (not including formatting), probably 6 bytes per word, assume 35 pages, that gives you right about 6,300-8000 words as an estimate. yeah sounds about right. (which is short. And i thought 200 page paperbacks were short in the past...)

  1. Has anyone tried Microsoft's PowerAutomate in combination with Text Extractor from PowerToys? Seems like a way people could "easily" scrape from a story from a browser based reader with little to no errors.
  2. also, anyone have stories from Lyndon Brown? They're locked behind the pay wall at StoriesOnline.net.

34 stories by Lyndon Brown, just like you wanted.
