@Remboo Pretty interesting read. I agree generally with the perspective and I think some of the most well written erotica share a lot of aspects mentioned in the post. Having said that, at the end of the day they are still mostly sex stories, and people will write whatever that get them off or tickle their fancy; so whatever unrealistic roles or settings I think if you wrote it well enough then people will like it.
One of the most ridiculous setting that I've seen is the "fucking a relative in the car while the other is driving", people really seem to like it and it has been done over and over by many authors, the good ones are still classic but you can see the luster kinda fade away reading all the lazily copied one later on.

@fookeroo : try to go for "strokies" first, short and full of action. Then slowly expanding it. Good sex scene is tough to write, and a good story is even tougher because the build up and the surrounding scenes must lead to something that is fun to read and also making some sense.
One of the classic structure is : build up -> climax with a sex scene, end with a short note right after. cliché but nothing wrong with it
Then you have series which is more complicate, and can take different forms. Usually involve one of these or a combination : expand of cast, new settings, higher stakes, etc. Some are anthology-like that you could technically end at any given chapter and it would be ok, some need a proper read from start to end to really feel satisfying.
Personally nothing worse than finding a decent series to read and the author just disappear without a proper continuation when the story is obviously not done

logically a story can take several avenues to progress.

1) Hidden relationship. There's a stress in the air when they are in public, wanting to be closer, but at home are eagerly fulfilling their base desires. Heh, the song 'Don't Stand so close to me' encapsulating the feeling.

2) Secret boyfriend. This implied and i see more where siblings or family are lovers, and live a normal life, but when they don't get their rocks off at a date or are teased or the like, they can take their frustrations out.
