maybe they already had a girl in their group but she may have left the group, for a solo career or to join another group or to become the trophy wife of a rich korean man or whatever, so they had to quit their dream
maybe Minji saw in Nick someone with talent for music with an amazing singing voice and wished that he was a real girl to join their group, but she was so desperate to keep their dream of being Idols that she decided to turn that American Loser into an aspiring K-Pop Idol, that way they could start dreaming again
at some point it was imply by the other 2 members of the group that Minji may be forcing Nick to become a Korean Girl and that he never wanted anything of all of this and they were right but Nick couldn't speak about it

Expecting a plot to make sense isn't nitpicking or delusion, it's a fundamental requirement for storytelling! But Melissa hasn't cared about that for a long time; now all she cares about is milking the poor fools on Patreon: getting only watered-down updates in dribs and drabs that barely relate to the plot, with a little bit of fucking once or twice a YEAR!-_-

the "Plothole" of "Why did she do that to Nick? an American Guy?", all you have to do is wait, it is a major revelation that will be shown later, like in Aphrodite's Mirror where we had the explanation of why everything went out of control near the end of the story
so, my advice, is wait, wanting the reason right away is like asking someone to spoiler the end of a movie or what happen in a series, it will ruin the "surprise effect"

The new version of the story sucks. The original explains everything so much better. Just with a little worse English. Wish she just updated the original story with a grammar pass and updated art and a proper ending this new version of K-pop is just all over the place and doesn’t make much sense
