Oh but that doesn't make them the big bucks they want. I mean heck $2.99 the minimum Amazon price of 'books' for 14-25 pages that aren't even proofread to the point of catching inappropriate name changes (let alone typos)
They should do 25¢ for such books. That denotes more appropriate size, and people would probably buy 8-20 at a time, encouraging more sales. Then you'd get a freebie random author 25¢ one to encourage looking at others.
At least the $3-$5 books in walmart and the grocery store i can see how thick the paperback is and warrant it's more worth it.
I've written the majority of two books - both over 50k words each, and have started on a third, unfortunately I can't find the file with the third because I had a lot of the roughing done - C'est la vie!
I proofread the hell out of them, primarily because I don't write as fast as I think, and so much of what I want to say doesn't make it to the hardcopy the first, second, or even third time through.
Doing ERPing myself, i can say my own posts i usually go over them a total of 5 times before i hit the send button. (
Not so much for forum posts) so i understand how much work some of this can be. Doing the KLRXO compilation and fixing and trying to match quotes so you don't have hanging punctuation all over the place... then the occasional name replace when they don't use regex and it replaces totally normal words with nonsense amalgamations.
I've also learned, for me, an outline is fine, but write the chapters in order, or I find I have to scrub really had to avoid contradictions or repeativeness.
One day I might finish those two books and try to get them out there - but for me, with the quality I put into my work, too only get the same as these "writer's" get tends to be a severe demoralizer, which is why I haven't finished them.

I'm not as avid a reader as my GF, she would probably be willing to read them over and give her feedback.
But i agree, writing in order, but trying to have all major details ironed out too, especially plot twists or revelations of characters.
As I've written elsewhere i really dislike JK Rowlings books. Her writing style (
at least in harry potter) treated you like an idiot, and like the 'scooby-doo' ending harping you for being too dumb as the reader to see what was happening, and then they explain all the clues leading up to it; But if you look back and the clues
literally aren't there (
or is so inconsequential and meant nothing). Unlike say something more Sherlock Holmes, or Detective School Q (
anime) where subtle clues are there, and you could piece enough stuff together to know who the bad-guy is; And if you didn't you probably won't solve the mystery or know what's up before they do. (
though Rowling did do a somewhat better job with the Timepiece one with hints of Hermine having waaay too many classes and seeing her in multiple places at once, but that's the only case i think she did it right, other times involving ingredients for potions are utter nonsense since without a primer of what those ingredients are or even do it's just fluff)
