So over 15 months ago now I started messing with this stuff and posting it on the old 8muses. One of my favorite series was The Viking Brides, which I couldn't stop returning to every now and then. A lot has developed with AI and I've gotten ever so slightly better at making things over this time, but I wanted to post this here. Most of these are not new but I have added a few here and there. The art styles and quality vary wildly, and I apologize for that (it will be even more apparent in part 2), but I still think the idea is nice. Anyway.
Viking Brides v2, Part 1!
Many centuries ago, there was a community called Vikings by their neighbors. In actuality, 'Viking' is not a people but an activity, and one day the men of the village left their new brides to set sail on a 'viking,' or raid, and they did not return. Their women waited, alone, and eventually realized that their men would not return.
They grew lonely. At last, the bravest among them decided to call upon the other widows.
They found each other. They were happy for a time. The women were kinder to each other than the men had ever been. They were in love.
But nothing lasts, and the dark clouds they sensed approaching would soon burst. They would have to take drastic measures to protect the future of their family...

Viking Brides v2, part 2!
Deeply in love, but with no children to raise, the once-again newlyweds wept. But they came from a long line of solid stock, and took fate into their own hands. Girding themselves for war, they prepared themselves for the gamble that would secure their future, or burn it.
They sailed out on a viking, and took the seed for their fertile gardens. There was resistance, but it failed.
And so, the next Spring came, and with it, the future.
Anyway, that's the happy canon ending. No one is (really) harmed and the beautiful couples can grow old with their families. Yay. Last year I wrote that I might come back to this story at some point, and now I have. But I'll probably do some other stuff for it at some point. I like making viking lady warriors and have a lot of the stuff lying around. Blonde fair-skinned freckled freedom fighters
Of course, there could be other versions too. Like maybe they kidnap some of the wives who try to save their husbands, and bring them back to clean the house, and... other things. Or maybe they grab some cute young boys for fun.... 'course none of that happened and can't be posted anyway

I had some time over the weekend, I thought I would play with this Viking theme, but unfortunately I spent most of the time suffering with ControNet.
I tried alternating the 1.5 vs SDXL checkpoints with SD Forge, but the openpose part was totally hectic and the rest didn't really produce the right results.
So I'll just post a list of the dozens of images I took.
If I ever have a lot of time (I won't), I'll try using Comfyui. But I also got away from that spaghetti illustration in video editing.
I had some time over the weekend, I thought I would play with this Viking theme, but unfortunately I spent most of the time suffering with ControNet.

Very nice work! It's frustrating for me to have to test different sampling methods for each different checkpoint to see what works best. Sometimes you strike gold and forget which settings were the most impressive. These are really great! I sometimes find img2img works better than openpose, controlnet, and that sort of thing. It's really frustrating when you want something to work just right. Great work here!

in 2008, British jeans manufacturer Connington ran a short-lived ad campaign. Their vision was simple: show ads which used real people. Real people that wore their product. Connington had been making unisex jeans for over two decades by this point and had become popular with the LGBTQ+ community for their focus on utility and fashion, while also being closer to a high-end Boutique product. These are some of the images from the campaign; I have selected some of the ones with nudity, although many of them were fully clothed.
The campaign was perhaps a decade ahead of its time. They also wanted to fight discrimination and body shaming, but the large number of complaints they received forced them to shelve the campaign after only 3 weeks. The company was ordered to pay a fine which bankrupted them, and they were bought out by a large American company which specialized in buying damaged brands for pennies on the dollar. Fortunately, they then sold it back to the original Connington family (not the owners of the Connington Jean Company any longer, but still with interest in the family name) in 2022, and they have just put out modeling advertisements for real same-sex couples... Perhaps they intend to revive the campaign, now that public support is likely to be with them.
