My TA 45 thoughts (spoilers, of course)
This was the best chapter in a while, for me, as it finally felt like the story may have turned. I've not been a fan of Sarah's descent for like the last 25 chapters (she shifted to basically having sex with anyone, anywhere, for any amount of time, as long as it wasn't Dan), but have been holding out glimmers of hope. Chapters 43 and 44 pretty much dashed any remaining hope I had for Sarah, but this chapter actually brought a little back.
My favorite non-sex moments in the story have been the few (very few) times Dan has made a strong (and correct, in my opinion) decision:
1. When he grabbed Lester by the throat and threw him out of his house
2. When he punched Jesse in the face and knocked him out cold (man, I hate that guy and if we never see him again it will be too soon)
3. In this chapter when he finally held up a mirror to Sarah and didn't back down. I actually said "FINALLY" to the screen when he threw her actions back in her face. Unfortunately, Dan immediately turned around and sent her back to Lester because he needed a distraction, so it's always 1 step forward 2 steps back with that guy.
Would love for Renee to come clean with Sarah, but of course Sarah freaking falls asleep AGAIN in Lester's bed after sex (she's gotta be a walking UTI at this point) so who knows how long she'll be away. However, the sex with Lester in the motel was the first time it felt like a purposeful hatef**k rather than completely stroking-out and losing all mental faculties like their previous 50 times simply because he's him.
Though I've hated the possibility of Ted trying to blackmail Sarah for sex, the fact that he followed her to the motel could actually be a good thing. Interrupting whatever 2nd or 3rd rounds Lester has planned and continuing to distract from the USB keylogger.
Dan's plan seemed to go off too easily, so I'm sure something will gum up the works, but thank you Frank.
Hopefully we're getting close to the end. Again, I hope Dan and Sarah can remain together and that Lester is defeated, but I don't see how Sarah doesn't wind up pregnant (unless Cheetos have a sterilizing chemical...Red 40? haha)

In your statement, you’ve recorded important and telling moments which, in my view, are very close to the mark.
In the third point, you write that you can’t make head nor tail of Dan because, even though he threw her misdeeds in her face, he sent Sarah back to Lester because he (Dan) needs a distraction.
I don’t believe that Dan sent Sarah back to Lester ‘of his own free will’ because he needs a distraction and sexual excitement. No, the author ‘had’ to act this way, because otherwise the story would have come to an end.
After Dan made it absolutely clear to Sarah that he would no longer tolerate her misdeeds, the next step for her would be to make a decision: Either she carries on living with Lester, or she returns for good to him and the children.
But that would bring the story to an end and spell the end of ‘the golden goose’ for Don Silver.
Don Silver doesn’t want that, though, because the gold is still shining very brightly.

I agree and should have been more clear - I didn't mean that Dan needed a distraction for sexual satisfaction, but in order for his plan in Chicago to work. My frustration is that he seemed to be turning Sarah around on seeing how toxic Lester is, but his immediate idea to make sure Lester didn't find out about his plan was to send her to (essentially) have sex with him again.
I know it's pretty much what the author had to do, and that tension and frustration is what keeps a reader like me coming back, but it doesn't mean I have to like it
Also, in the alpha version, the author doesn't state that Dan texts Sarah when the job is done. Does he think she's just going to "distract" Lester indefinitely?
And Tricia being about to catch strays may not end well for Lester since Dan submitted the 'anonymous' tip

Renee left the hotel first. Sarah came home hours after Renee left. If Renee went to Sarah's first, only Dan would have been home.
Also remember that both women were drugged by Lester before the motel escapades began and they're still recovering from that in the morning (not the usual post-Lester clarity).
