It could be to get away from some new draconian restrictions. In the UK, internet safety laws are restricting access to a lot of content. They are forcing people to use facial identification software to even get access to content deemed unsuitable for younger audiences, not necessary pornographic in nature, and apparently a few other countries are going down the same route.
